What do you feed your 6 month old

I need some ideas.

I have been weaning for a couple of weeks now, mainly hipp jars and some heinz fruit pots.

She is not keen on savoury jars at all.

What foods can I make and puree that won't harm her stomach

Sorry if this makes me sound useless I was the same with dd1 I just didn't have a clue and now we have major food issues. I want to avoid this with dd2

My dd is 6.5m, she has carrot, sweet potato parsnip, mashed potato and banana and Avacado.
I batch cook the vegetables and freeze in silicone ice cube trays. She has approx 2 cubes a time. You can mix and match the cubes. The banana and Avacado is a good non cook option. My dd loves it.

I'm guessing it's just a case of mashing the banana and feeding off a spoon? I was worried it was too strong for her tummy to handle. The carrots I'll cook off and mash and see how I get on I'm sure she will love them though.

If I stew apples and pears and mash would that be OK too?

I stick to single flavours, but pretty much anything is on the table, and generally he eats what I eat, but in slightly smoother form. Today he has had banana with breakfast, broccoli and courgette (both cooked off and whizzed in blender). Banana isn't too strong as you're only giving small amounts to taste (they still get all of their calories from milk, the food at this stage is all about fun new flavours and textures!). I've not bothered with the jars, just cooked a couple of vegetables and frozen into small portions and take out when needed. I've not used too many as like I said, he has what I prepare for my dinner (minus salt etc).

Apples, pears and mash are all fine. I do find that if he has sweet flavours he goes off of the savoury ones, so I try to give more savoury than sweet so he gives them a fair chance!

Honestly I don't think you can "get it wrong" at 6 months. If they have food issues later, that's not to do with anything you did at 6 months old :)

At her age babies can have anything except honey (until 1 year, even if cooked) and not too much salt. DS used to love gumming on strips of pork or beef!

Apart from honey and added salt you can give her anything. We just shared our food. Strong flavours, herbs, spices all great - you want her to enjoy eating and trying new things! Not bland mush.

Get hold of a copy of Annabel Karmel's weaning book - lots of fab, easy recipes and all the information you need on weaning.

We're doing baby- led weaning so she eats exactly what we eat. No messing with purées Smile
