Sheepskin in cot at 8 months?

Hi! I was just wandering if anyone else uses sheepskin in their cots for a baby of around 8 months?

He's gotten into the habit of co-sleeping in our bed all night and crying every time we put him in his cot. So I put a sheepskin in to make it comfier and cozier which has worked, he definitely likes it much more now and won't roll over / stand up as soon as we put him in.

But I did read it could be a hazard if he sleeps on his front... He is very strong now so I can't imagine him getting stuck on his front and I think it's probably safer than being in our bed all night.

Just wandering if anyone else does this?

Is it a baby-specific one - ie shorn short? I've used baby sheepskins for all three DCs from birth until they grow out of them at about 2 years, and there's been no problem.

I've used a short lambskin from birth with my 2. Under a soft sheet.

I've used one in my son's bedside crib since he was born, it's a baby specific one and I only lay him on his back or side in it. He's 2 months so couldn't roll over if he needed to if I put him on his front. I do worry much less about him being warm enough with it in there, it radiates his heat back! Lovely and toasty :-)

Thanks everyone! No it's not baby specific, but I have one of them in the pram, I'll swap them round and put a sheet over it :-)

I'd read that the issue with them is inhaling the fibres, so definitely use a baby specific one and put a sheet over the top.
