Christmas presents for a 10 week old - please help!

Our DD will be 10 weeks at Christmas & a lot of people are asking us what she needs so they can get her a present.
Our problem is at the moment we've already got everything she needs as well as loads of toys as people (the same people) were very generous when she was born.
We've tried saying that as we don't need anything they shouldn't bother-she's too young to know, but everyone has said not to be silly & they will be getting her gifts.
My only thought was to ask for things she's going to need in the next few months-does anyone have any ideas/advice on what these could be?

(Before anyone says anything I'm very aware of what a first world problem this is & how lucky we are!)

Winter clothes for next year?

Stuff for summer eg a ball pool she can sit in, stacking cups for when bigger, any weaning bits?

Books eg classics like "each peach pear plum", "goodnight moon", "the gruffalo"? You can start reading to your baby now and develop a love for books.

meerschweinchen · 05/12/2013 20:37

Definitely things she'll need in the next year. Weaning stuff - plate, spoons, bowl, beakers etc are good, clothes in larger sizes, toys for 6 months plus - stacking cups, shape sorters, maybe a walker, push along toys etc. Maybe even something for the garden for the summer - sandpit, water tray, plastic seesaw thing. And you can never have too many books! An alternative would be to put money in a savings account, or even pay for say a term of something like tumbletots, baby swimming, money music or any classes that you fancy,if you like that sort of thing.

you can't have too many bibs and vests.

Money to put in her trust fund account

Bumbolina · 05/12/2013 20:40

We've a 2 week old - we'll be asking for vest tops and baby grows in differing sizes :-D

Winter clothes age 12-18 months (unless you and your DP are very small, which might suggest that 9-12 months will be ok). A lovely coat, for example, or an all in one winter suit. A first pair of wellies. Or gift vouchers that you can use when you need (boring but very practical). Alternatively something like a jumperoo which you might find very helpful in next few months.

FeastOfPhteven · 05/12/2013 20:48

Clothes? Muslins?

If they are wanting to buy big things, a jumperoo maybe?

Mamabear12 · 05/12/2013 20:49

baby/toddler books. kids can always use books :) puzzles for when baby is older. soft toys...my daughter LOVES stuffed animals...she has so many and loves each one she gets...takes 5 to bed, brings all 5 to our room every morning etc...she is now almost 22 months, but has been collecting the stuffed animals since she was a baby :)

blueberrycupcake · 05/12/2013 20:52

A gift voucher to clarks for the first pair of shoes.
A bumbo seat.
Long sleeved bibs.
Books.

SmallBee · 06/12/2013 02:29

Oh wow think you for all the ideas, these are amazing!

Book tokens.

Bumbo if you like the look of them.
Sleeping bags in bigger sizes
Bigger things:
Highchair
Next size up car seat
Duplo starter/Brio starter

Bumbolina · 06/12/2013 03:42

Instead of a Bumbo - I'd really really recommend a mamas and papas Snug instead... most people I know got about 2 months use from their Bumbo however my 2.5 year old is still using her snug (the seat is removable so there is a bigger toddler seat underneath).

JimbosJetSet · 06/12/2013 04:08

Google a '100 year diary,' I got one for my two at their first Christmas and write a paragraph each month about what they have been up to and their milestones - I wish my parents had started one for me when I was a baby too!

MammaGnomes · 06/12/2013 08:45

my little girl is 11 weeks and we have asked for

mamas and papas version of a bumbo
highchair
playmat with keyboard at bottom for her to kick at
3-6 month clothes
jumparoo
6 months plus toys.

ZuleikaD · 06/12/2013 09:00

Stuff for when she's older like Duplo.

oscarwilde · 06/12/2013 13:32

All the suggestions above are good. If its family happy to club together, the highchair one is great and we also had family buy a Tiffany initial necklace (unprompted) which is lovely and a simple elegant piece of jewellry which she can wear when she is older.

MadMonkeys · 07/12/2013 09:32

Clarks vouchers
next/mothercare/boors vouchers
clothes in bigger sizes
grobags in larger sizes
high chair
play mat

Newmum0113 · 07/12/2013 22:15

Well, I've had the same problem, my DD will be 11 weeks :)

My sister-in-law has decided she will make or buy DD a Christmas decoration each year so that when she moves into her own home, she has her own set of decorations with memories to boot.

Thought this was a lovely idea.

princesscupcakemummyb · 08/12/2013 13:41

clothes in the next sizes

weaning stuff i second that

toys to grow in-to

cupoftchai · 08/12/2013 13:46

books!

star15 · 08/12/2013 17:01

I have the same problem what we have done with the grandparents, one set are getting our little on a baby walker and one is getting a high chair, which I have told them we will get once DD is ready the rest if the family are either getting practical things my grandmother has bought nappies etc or putting money in to our dd bank account.

Bithurt · 08/12/2013 17:24

I'm another one who suggests stacking cups. My son got them for last xmas. He's now 18 months and still plays with them. Before he'd be knocking them down now he puts them in one another so excellent for coordination.

Also, after last xmas i went into mothercare and bought him a winter coat for this year for a few pounds.

YY to stacking cups. DD 2.9 still plays with hers.

Clarks vouchers are a really good idea, good children's shoes are expensive, but little feet need them.

Books are also a good idea, especially the classics like "Bear Hunt" and "Do you know how much I love you".

Jolly jumper to be used in a few months time?

The Christmas decoration is also an awesome idea.
