hi I'm looking for a carrier / sling for my 15mth old. we've used a baby soft structured carrier previously but not for some time though. He's now walking but he still likes cuddles and I'd like not to have to take the pushchair everywhere.
I don't want to spend loads though and can't be doing with wrapping and tying. The best value toddler carrier I've found seems to be the Patapum which I've found new for under £60. It has good reviews on the product section on here. Anyone got anything additional to say about it? Thx!

I had the baby version (6 months to 18 months) and found it excellent. Really comfy to use and being able to wear the baby on my back was great when we went out for walks etc. I still stuff DD in it now she is 22 months.

I like the Manduca.

I bought an Ergo and really liked it, but actually for good value, I wish I'd bought a Patapum, they look great.

Thanks for your replies. I'm seriously considering the Patapum but will check out the Manduca too. Smile

On the slings Facebook pages you can pick up a papayum for about 45 and a manduca for about 70. Tula's are also good :-)

I had the Patapum. Bought for a holiday when DD1 was 2.6 and a big girl. Brilliant product. Folds up small and is super comfy even when pregnant and carrying a chunky two year old. Used loads for a clingy DD2 as well.

I like our toddler Tula.

I love our patapum. DS is almost three and we still use it.

DH uses it, too and it's ultraportable. Love it, go for it!

yay! more good patapum feedback!
I'm in a Facebook sling group but all the toddler carriers get snapped up so fast! Not seen a toddler patapum on there yet either. there are a couple of eBay that I'm watching but if I miss them I think I'll just get a new one as the price isn't bad.
I read one or two reviews saying toddler patapum is hard to put on on your own for a back carry? I guess it's just a case of practice though?

I have the beco Gemini which we still use occasionally to carry one of out 2 yo twins (dd is 25lb and DS 30lb) and they are pretty good - I don't get backache and they are comfortable for an hour or so at a time.

ceeveebee - sounds good! another to investigate then. thx!

I don't find it difficult to get DS on my back. Same as all carriers, it's about technique. Just ALWAYS remember to get the child out before undoing the waist clip, otherwise they tend to fall out like DS once did.

OneMoreThenNoMore · 07/12/2013 07:39

We have a toddler patapum; it's brilliant. We can't get the dc into it without help but that seems to be the case with lots of back carriers. That's probably because we have a runnish technique though! My ds is almost two and massive; he fits in it without any problems. It's also comfortably carried our 3.5 yr old dd on occasion when she's got tired during long walks.

We got ours brand new from eBay- it was about £45 I think.

KittieCat · 07/12/2013 14:19

There are some good vids on you tube to help with technique. We kinda get him on our hip, holding on round out neck and then move him round.

Poor description... Sorry!
