Bumbo - can't decide whether to use it or not

We've been given a bum ho for dc2. Didn't buy or use one for dc1.

Are they okay to use or controversial like baby Bjorns are? I worry about "forcing" dc2 in a sitting position before he's ready to sit himself.

Yes great as a little portable feeding chair if going away etc with clip on table. Can only see them as a useful bit of kit....presuming people don't use them for non sitters or for lengthy periods. Or of course leaving them unattended.

We found it pointless. Dd went in it from ten weeks and by 15 weeks she'd learned to throw herself out of it. As a pp said, sitting them with cushions etc to prop them up is much better.

My son had one. Liked it. His physio didn't have a problem with it.

Avoid avoid! They put baby in a completely unnatural position. Far too many products on the market designed to make babies do things before they are physically ready IMO

DS always rattled around in them too much, and by the time his legs were big enough, he was sitting on his own anyway, so I never saw the point

A friend had one and the baby seemed to spend half his life being righted having flung himself sideways (but he could have just been a very determined baby)

Ours was great for weaning, there was about a month where dd was on solids but couldn't sit well enough in a highchair. We did blw so she needed to be upright to prevent choking.

It was great for that purpose and worth the few pounds it cost us second hand.

I kept ours in the bathroom, and used to sit them in it when I was on the loo so they could see me but were roaming on the floor!
