Anyone done those football classes for young toddlers?

They're just starting round our way, class from 2yo. It all sounds ok and as if they definitely realise they're going to achieve little more than herding a dozen 2yo's vaguely in the direction of a few balls, and I think DD (who will just be 2 when it starts) is up to staying within a group for 45 mins, especially if they are running around and being silly. Also it's the only classes on at the weekend for under 3's!

But just wondered if anyone else had tried these and whether they thought they were worth it?

(Sorry this has been post twice, wasn't sure where to put it!)

DS1 (2.7) goes to 'rugby tykes'

I have to say I've got a lot of admiration for the guy who takes the class. You're exactly right when you say it's like herding a load of 2yr olds! It's hilarious some of the things they get up to Grin

During the session they do things like basic throwing/catching, coordination activities and VERY basic rugby techniques.

I think it's done ds some good tbh, his coordination has improved an des better at following instructions now.

He seems to really enjoy going.

There's a football class near us for 18m- 4you. We took DS when he had just turned 2 and it didn't go well. Didn't want to listen wanted to just play with the big bag of balls etc. we are going to try again in 6 months

Both mine did 'Little Kickers' from about 2.5yrs and loved it. The coaches were brilliant - relentlessly positive and enthusiastic.

DS1 was gutted when he had to move on to the 'big boys football club' in Year 2. He's now 12 and still pops in now and then to say hi to the coach.

For us, it was also a brilliant thing for DH to do with them on a Sat morning.

My son has done little kickers from 18months. Loves it especially doing the goal kicks. Some of the stuff is a bit complex for him (mixed ages). The class is long though. And he would be flagging after 30 minutes but a juice and some raisins do the trick.

DS1 has done Rugbytots from just 2yrs old. Its pretty much the same idea I think but with egg shaped balls instead. He has no real idea about the game at all but the session is made up of kicking the ball, throwing the ball, obstacle course, running up and down like a mad thing while being chased...

He loves it and because its saturday his dad takes him and has a lovely morning just the two of them.

I was wondering about doing little kickers too, ds is 2.11 and doesn't seem to have much confidence, not sure he would join in or just want to sit on my knee like most things we've tried...
