Sleepy TV

Hi there, someone mentioned to me a while ago that there's a TV programme on one of the kids channels that's supposed to help send babies off to sleep. Don't know which channel or what it's it's called. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks Smile

Sky 623 - the baby channel.

It's nonsense. TV stimulates their brains and doesn't calm them.

Thanks both. I had heard about TV stimulating their brains, but will give it a try anyway and let you know how dd responds. Maybe it's v dull and will bore her to sleep Wink

What about a dark room and rocking her? Staring at a tv can't be good.

CBeebies have a bedtime hour from 6 o'clock. Sky 614, freeview 71.

We have a good bedtime routine which includes bath, book, bed and cuddling to sleep which takes around an hour. The problem is dd gets grouchy from around 4pm and it's a battle to keep her going until 6pm bedtime. Even if she's just up from a nap. I'm thinking bedtime TV might stimulate enough to keep her awake little longer but not too exciting. Fingers crossed! Smile

So we tried both the Cbeebies bedtime hour one night and the Baby TV one another night. it basically didn't help or hinder. I had the same grouchy tired baby aa ever. Think that last hour before bathtime is always going to be trying!

How old is your baby? Interested as we have a young baby and am no where near a 4pm start of a routine. Wonder if bed time gets earlier when they're proper babies instead of newborns? Sorry to hijack

No problem mustard. Dd is 7.5 months old. It was all a bit random when she was newborn too and it seemed she was either feeding or asleep most of the time. Once she was a bit more aware of what was going on and interested in everything (3-4 months) she seemed awake more of the day and naturally seemed to go to two/three naps a day of 25mins to an hour, and longer periods of sleeps at night (3-4 hours). She always started getting grouchy around 4pm, but if we put her to bed then she'd be wide eyed and ready for porridge and play at 4am, so we eek her out to 6pm so that she's not up any earlier than 6am. We still have a feed around 10pm and 2am though, but for the most part not too bad. Our bedtime routine starts at 5pm and is bath, bottle, book and then cuddle to sleep and into cot. Hope that helps Grin
