Lambskins

I have posted below asking for suggestions for something more warm and snuggly for my 3 week old to sleep on.

I have has some useful suggestions (thank you! And someone has suggested a lambskin. I have been thinking of purchasing one for the buggy anyway (bugaboo bee) for when he outgrows the newborn nest so now I'm wondering whether I should buy another for the cot? Or can you use the same one?

My main concern (slaps myself for still being a worrier after 2 babies) is... Is it safe? I have found conflicting info online. Some sites say only a flat cotton sheet should be used and some say SIDS is higher in New Zealand because they use sheepskins. Am I worrying about nothing?

Also can anyone recommend one? Had a loom at Jo Jo, John Lewis etc but there are so any to choose from?!

TIA x

I don't know about the safey aspect but I use a sheep skin in my pram (DS is 11 weeks) and its really warm, its minus 5 outside and with a fleecy babygrow over his normal babygrow he was too hot. Are you sure you need one inside? I use a sleep sack as that gives them a soft surface to lay on and isn't as warm.

I've put a fleecy blanket under dds sheet and she's stopped waking up cold, damned cheaper than a lambskin.

I have always had lamb skins for my DC as babies. I have had several from Gabe and Grace which are lovely including the rather expensive bed underlay which is actually the right size for a cot bed with slight hangover.

Really lovely, but you do need to put a sheet over the top to stop the fluff getting into baby's airways.

I've bought one from jojo maman bebe, just went and collected it. So do I lay baby directly on it or odes it go under the sheet? X

Under a sheet until they're 1.

I put them straight on it from newborn - all three fine. Grin

I got one yesterday, a long one. Would have preferred short hair but that's all they had. Popped it under the sheet (I'm a scaredy cat!) and it's made an amazing difference. He went straigr back into his cot after feeds with no fuss,
No patting, no dummy, no putting the mobile on. Amazing x
