... We're away there for Xmas and want to get it done for our DS (would get it here in London, but he's just had mmr booster so can't have cp vaccine for 4 weeks)

Preferably in the Weymouth/dorchester area...?

I would imagine the majority of GP practices would do it (privately of course) without you needing to be registered.

Or some travel clinics will do it.

Why not wait til your back though? You know CP is a course of 2 vaccines anyway, 4-8 weeks apart.

Oh I didn't think I could call up any old GP clinic - good thinking.

I just want it out of the way. We're away for 3.5 weeks at xmas so by the time we return home it'll be nearly time for the 2nd jab - that would be my ideal really. Also - the first jab gives good immunity (9/10 have decent imunity after it) so he'll have some before he returns to nursery and encounters everything that babies have been brewing in their various families over the xmas period...

Umm - why? I have had 3 with chicken pox and it's like a cold. The chicken pox gives life long immunity and the vaccine(s) is around 20 years.

It's not always like a cold princess. It can be horrific and lead to permanent disability or death.

Many European countries and America all have it as part of the standard imms for kids. We don't because it doesn't make sense from a cost benefit perspective.

I'm still debating it as there is a suggestion it may cause shingles to be more likely. Its not a foolish thing to do.

Fuck off is it like a cold in all cases!

Get the vaccine. £100 from our local private GP.

Wow, you are pleasant cfc! I didn't say in all cases - I said 'my 3' lol!
The vaccine is coming to Britain soon on NHS because there is plenty of money to be made. Drugs company's want as many out there as possible.
So if it is something you genuinely fear will kill or damage your children (do they have any other issues) then you could try and find out when it comes here. Or you could pay for it.

Im just saying don't panic imo as the chances are they will be fine with it as are most.

You could die from many things but you have to put it into perspective.
My cousin was paralysed at 16 from a vaccine then died at 40 with all of her complications. Like the amount of children who die from Chicken pox there are as many die from vaccine. It is highly unlikely however that the average child will die from either vaccine or chicken pox if you see what I mean.

YOu said you had three who've had it, and that it's like a cold. It isn't. It's horrid and could have caused blindness is my DD. 20 years is fine by me...
