DD keeps being sick! (Long)

DD is 10mo. She went to an indoor fun house type thing with three friends and their mums on Monday last week. 36 hours later she started vomiting really violently; loads of gagging and retching and bringing up bile. She was sick every 5-10 minutes for about 2 hours and then sick every 30 minutes or so for the next 4 hours. The sickness started in the middle of the night so DH called 111 and they said just to keep her hydrated.

The next day, (last wednesday) we found that two of her three friends also started being sick at exactly the same time, so we were reassured that is was a viral thing. However, DD couldn't keep down any breast milk and was refusing water so I took her to the doctors. The doctor said it should last for up to 48 hours and we should see an improvement in that time. She also advised Dioralyte.

That afternoon I tried water and Dioralyte but DD point blank refused. She would on BF and couldn't keep the milk down. By Wednesday afternoon she was lethargic and just laying limply on the floor so I called the doctor to tell them and she just said to carry on with the milk if that is all she would take.

She was sick and lethargic all day on Thursday too, and the same on Friday so I took her back to the doctors as it was now more that 48hrs since it had started. The doctor said there was nothing they could do and as she wasn't dehydrated to just wait it out.

She was sick on Saturday with diarreah and I was violently sick too, as was DH. She was still being sick on Sunday but DH and I felt mostly better. Today she is still sick. She is not being violently sick or bringing up bile any more but is still sick at least two or more times a day and still spends most of the day sleeping (which is totally out of character) or laying lethargically on the floor. She doesnt really smile or babble and doesn't seem engaged in anything. Today is day 6 and she hasn't had solids for 6 days. She is hungry and has visably lost weight (the doctor said not to give solids until she has gone 24 hours without being sick). She cries if she sees us with food, which is heartbreaking.

Her friends are all still occasionally sick or suffering with diarreah but she seems to have been the worst affected. She seems so much more lethargic etc. and is the only one who hasn't been able to have some solids.

DH and the doctor implied that we would just have to wait it out (I guess it's some kind of Norovirus thing), but how long should I wait before I demand the doctors take notice?

Why tell me it would only last 48hrs and that I should see an improvement in that time if by day 6 it's the same? I don't know if I should call the doctor or what?

DD is our first DC and I really don't know what is normal etc. Any advice?

Oh your poor dd Sad my dd 14 months had the same this week but not 6 days worth. I have no advice but know how worrying and stressful it is. I would be offer a digestive or some dry toast she won't eat it if she doesn't want it

Have you increased her milk? Let her have as much as she will take. Personally id let her have a bit of mashed banana too.

6 days is a long time and the lethargy would bother me.

I'd go back to the gp and take both a urine sample and a poo sample. Wee needs a special collection pad the gp receptionist should be able to give you. Just to exclude something else like a UTI.

Otherwise use dioralyte regularly so she gets enough salt replacement to counteract the vomiting and lots of cuddles. If at any point she becomes floppy or drowsy or youre just worried then get yourselves to a&e. There is NOTHING as strong as a mothers instinct for when theres a real problem, dont ignore it.

Hope shes better soon.
