Not sure if she's going to bed too early as she wakes at 5am most days, regardless of length of afternoon nap (2hrs) or time out to bed.

Weekday
5.30pm - dinner
6pm - milk in beaker or cup
6.30pm -bath and teeth
6.50 - massage, lullaby, pjs
7pm - story
7.10pm - bedtime

Weekend
5.30pm - dinner
6.15 - milk
7pm - bath and teeth
7.20pm - massage, lullaby, pjs
7.30pm - story
7.45 - bedtime

Is this too early? She's always tired when it's bedtime (yawning, rubbing eyes, trying to climb into cot).

My DS is 2 (will be 3 in feb).
He goes to bed at 8. Has a 1.5hr (sometimes 2hr) nap at 2.
Usually wakes at 6.30-6.45 but sometimes as early as 6.

Blueuggboots · 18/11/2013 04:19

He has a bath at 7, then comes downstairs to read as story or play then we go upstairs at 7.45.

Its normal for toddlers to sleep for more hours. If she is tired let her sleep early.

DD is 2.4, she wakes at 8ish has no nap (hasnt sincand goes to bed at 7.

tantrumtime · 18/11/2013 05:52

(Hasn't since she was 18 months) that was supposed to say! She has always slept brilliantly at night but refused naps in the day, I gave up when DS came along who is the complete opposite.
Sometimes she clearly needs to go to bed early especially with the darker nights so will go to bed at 6 but still sleeps until 8ish.

PoopMaster · 18/11/2013 05:55

DD is 2.4, has the same routine as in the OP (including the 2 hr nap when she's at home) and she wakes at 6:30 most days.

I think we'd struggle to push her bedtime back as she's quite tired by the time she goes to bed. Plus if she goes to bed late (eg been to see grandparents) she still wakes at the same time the next day.

DeathMetalMum · 18/11/2013 07:52

We do 7.30 upstairs for teeth and stories meaning usually asleep by 8. DD is 2.9 and has no nap recently she has been waking pre 6am most days but can't seem to get her to nap or ealier to bed even though she is obviously tired.

Featherbag · 18/11/2013 07:58

5.30 dinner, then play with toys/daddy
6.20 Iggle Piggle!
6.45 bath
7.15 PJs, milk, story
7.30 teeth
Night-night, lullaby.

He'll sleep til anywhere from 6am to 9am, he's in his own bed but often climbs in with us during the night! He has a nap late morning, it can be anything from 45 minutes - 2 hours.

chupachupsicle · 18/11/2013 09:59

My DD is 2.3 and we do
5.30 dinner
6.00 bath
6.30 pjs, stories, milk
7.00 bed

She always wakes around 6-6.30

TinyTear · 18/11/2013 10:06

nearly 22 months

6pm - dinner
6h30 - bath
7h - quiet play with Daddy who is home then-ish and mummy
7h45 - teeth, PJs, story
8pm - mummy comes in with the magic boob of sleep

8h20 to 9pm - asleep (dependind how tired she is)

The on weekends she wakes at 5h30 or 6am and on weekdays we prise her out of the cot at 7am to take to the nursery as she is fast asleep (grrrrrr)

highlandbird · 18/11/2013 10:22

My DS is 2.8 and is more than ready for bed by 7, but rarely has a nap in the day.

5.30 dinner
6ish bath
6.15 - 7 pj's on, play with daddy, stories
7 teeth and bed

He sleeps until anywhere between 7 and 9 in the morning but sometimes wakes in the night and comes into bed with us ( once every two or three weeks )
We've found if he goes to bed any later it takes him ages to fall asleep.

KatyN · 19/11/2013 12:08

My boy is 2 next week. He goes to bed at 7 (bath 5.30 telly 6-6-45, stories and milk).

He was waking up at 5 but we have started cutting down his midday nap (to 1.5 hr) and put the heating on in his room and he's sleeping till 6.

[that might not sound like much of an improvement but we all get up at 6 so this is perfect - the 4.30 wake ups were N O T funny]

how does the change in routine on the weekend work? We find the little man more tired on the weekend because we are both there to play so a later bedtime wouldn't work.

I wish my bedtime routine looked like this! So, to represent the commuting parents..

DS (2+2) & I normally don't get back from the journey home until more like 7.15pm, and then it goes like this:

7.15 -7.45: play together & a snack if he hasn't eaten much at nursery that day.
7.45 -8.00: start to get calmer downstairs, maybe watch a bit of Peppa if he says please.. ;-)
8.00 - 8.15: head upstairs, teeth brush & clean face, neck and hands
8.15 - 8.30: stories
8.30 - 8.35: lights out and lullabies
8.35: leave the room (he's not asleep at this point) - and tell him that I'll be downstairs if needed.
8.40: start making dinner for me + DH
8.50: DS hopefully asleep.

He generally wakes up around 7am, and then there is a speedy getting ready process as we need to leave for our train at 7.20am. If he wakes up before then, I will bring him into the bed with us for a last snuggly sleep before it's time to get up for real.

At nursery he naps for about an hour, at home he will sleep for more like 2hrs (3 if I get in with him - 20wks pregnant with DC2, getting all the extra sleep I can!!).

Our schedule is crazy, and one of the many, many, many things I feel horrendously guilty about is the fact that he typically goes to sleep about 1.5hrs - 2hrs later than every other toddler I know. Just no other way to make it work at the moment... Roll on mat leave!

StealthToddler · 20/11/2013 14:46

My ds3 is 2.5. We stopped his lunch time nap about 3 months ago as he was waking early. My 3 sons are lights out at 7.15 and they wake near 7am sometimes sleeping till 7.30. Ds3 now has quiet time after lunch, tucked under a blanket watching tv for a bit but very rarely naps.
I would drop the nap except maybe every few days.
