Sick Bugs

Hi,
I was in the supermarket entrance earlier and a little girl aged about three threw up rather spectacularly. Mum and Dad cleaned her up and then went in to do their shopping.
I thought this was very irresponsible with regards to how easy these bugs can spread. It puts more vulnerable people at risk of being very poorly, hospital admissions etc. Also there could have been the possiblility have her repeating it in the store not to mention she must have felt rough and it wasn't fair dragging her round at supermarket.
I felt so sorry for the little girl and think they should have gone home or one parent sat in the car with her.
I have a bit of a phobia with feeling/being sick.
Am i over reacting? I spend the winter months in panic about catching these sorts of things as it is.

I would think exactly the same. We were in a cafe once and my DD was sick. We immediately asked for a refund (as our order had not arrived yet) and took her home.

You don't know anything about the circumstances so I don't think you can judge - and yes, I think you are exaggerating the risks. DD gets massively travel-sick and has frequently been sick even quite some time after getting off the train or bus.

No, you're not overreacting.
Being spectacularly sick wipes you out so being dragged around a supermarket isn't much fun.
Regardless of the reason for it, I wouldn't take myself off shopping immediately after a puke, let alone a small child.

There's also the change of it being norovirus, which is awful.
We had a bout of if last year, DH, mum and my sisters three kids came down with violent sickness, they were all in a bad way for a few days and we had to cancel DS's christening.
Norovirus, as well as being very unpleasant, results in hospitals closing to visitors and many lost days at work.

If people could actually do what they're told to do, and stay home until 48 hours after the last bout, it wouldn't be such an issue.
