Poorly 8.5 month old... What can I do?

Hi guys, my little one is 8.5 months old and has had a temperature for 3 days now. Took him to doctor this morning and they said he has a virus and I should just give him Calpol. He is so miserable and floppy, what can I do to make hi better besides dosing him with Calpol every 4 hours??
Any advice appreciated.

Can u alternate inruprofen and calpol every two hours? Really of the temperature isn't going down on calpol he needs seeing again.

If you're not happy with your gp's advice you can always get a 2nd opinion.
But if it's viral there's really very little you can do. Offer food if he wants it, plenty of fluids, calpol at regular intervals, lots of cuddles and ride it out. Watch for signs that he's getting worse (listless, not responsive, high temp that calpol doesn't bring down etc) and if he does don't hesitate to get him back to the doctor.
Can he have infant ibuprofen as well as the calpol, at 4-6 hr intervals? That might offer more pain relief than just the paracetamol on its own.

Thanks all, he is eating okay and drinking his milk, but won't take any water. He is sleeping through so that's good, just hate seeing him sick Hmm will see how he is in the morning. This mummy thing is hard .... Worry so much!

I would check on him throughout the night. Just to make sure he can be roused on and hasn't got worse x
