Teeth cleaning with a 7 month old

Is it really, really awful if I do this before his last bottle at night rather than afterwards? I know it supposed to be afterwards but he always fall fast asleep during this feed. Proper, floppy, don't wake up until morning sleep. It feels wrong to wake him up to clean his teeth.

WWYD?

there is an argument that it's better to clean teeth super well right before food because the rot starts immediately, but by removing many of the bacteria you slow down the rot overall.

So not awful at all, needs must and all.

The last thing in his mouth should be a toothbrush, that's all there is to it. Milk is incredibly sugary and it's all just going to sit there on his teeth.

Ds fed to sleep as do pretty much all bf babies i know. I switched to teeth brushing after milk when he was about 18m. Dentist said ideally after but needs must (sensible woman with kids!).

Ds teeth are in excellent fettle age 3.

of course it doesn't matter at 7m. my ds stopped having milk before bed st 2.5yrs so that's when teeth were brushed and nothing then consumed. If your ds was 3yrs plus I might say try and wean off the milk (as you'll also want him dry at night) but he isn't so don't worry. do what suits you and your baby.

I'm impressed you can brush his teeth anyway. my 9m dd just won't have it and i'm not going to force her as it will make it an issue forever. she'll do it soon enough.

My little chap is in love with his tooth brush. So long as he can hold it too, I can wiggle it around in his mouth as much as I like. Once I've had a go I leave it to him and he'll happily chew on it for a while. The problems start if I try to take it off him. :o
