Should I take monkey away from DS

Took DS and DD out shopping today, popped into my favourite discount store and picked out two cheap cuddly toys for them, they are both 14 months old. They seemed very happy with them and gummed them all the way through the boring food shop.

When I got home had a quick look online to see if I had got a bargain, as you do, discovered that the cute monkey that DS was so attached to was in fact a puppy toy! So should I make my little man miserable and take his monkey away from him or just let him play with it. I understand that pet toys aren't made to the same safety standards as baby toys but I've checked it all over and it looks fine to me?

If it looks fine and no little bits that might come off I'd let him keep it. Just keep an eye and check that seams aren't opening up etc. A dog toy sounds a bit off-putting, but it isn't a used one, after all!

I won't let him take it to bed it will stay downstairs where I can keep an eye out. Honestly I know it sounds yuch but you would never know it was a puppy toy - it was in the baby toy section. If I'd had my glasses and read the label 'for my favourite pet' would have been a bit of a give away though!
