Cot bumpers?

Hi, I just wondered if anyone knew the current advice/recommendations regarding cot bumpers? I remember being told by my midwife that they were a hazard for babies getting stuck and not to use one, this was with ds1 in 2004. My dd is 10 months old and in with us in her cot. However it's quite drafty as she is by an old sash window and I wondered if a cot bumper would help keep the little environment in her cot a bit warmer?

I think the advice is still quite anti. However we use some things called airflow or similar (sold on the jojo maman bebe website). They do up on the outside of the cot with velcro so nothing to get tangled and are made of mesh that can be breathed through. Also designed to crumple up if stood on so can't be used to help climb out of the cot. I promise I am not on commission!

we use them too mrsmalcomreynolds.. .we bought ours from Amazon and they are brilliant, ultra safe and stop the dummy falling out of the cot too Grin...

not sure it was help keep them any warmer tho...

Stopping the dummy falling out the bed would help too I hate getting out to find it now it's cold! I suppose it might stop a bit of the draft...

Unless she's waking up cold then she's probably fine, and you could always put another layer on her. How about hanging something over the draughty window?

She is waking cold. I put her in a long sleeved vest, then sleep suit and sleeping bag. I have added a cellular blanket over the top.

DS2 was waking up cold until a couple of nights ago - he's now in long-sleeved vest, fleece sleepsuit, sleeping bag, on a sheepskin and under a cot duvet and wool blanket. Our bedroom is very draughty too, but that lot seems to have sorted it and I'm confident he's only waking for feeds now.

I used bumpers until dd was 11 months and could stand and cruise.
Boy did she go nuts when they were taken off and for a week or so I would have to go to her in the night as she'd rolled over and banged herself against the side.
I had an airflow wrap. I didn't find it as padding and it wasn't as high the bumper.
