ds has suddenly started to scream when i feed him in his highchair. Normally he is a really great feeder and will eat whatever he is given but in the last week he has suddenly started to just cry and wail and try and turn around so he isn't facing me when i try and feed him.
He is 9 months and has just got his first tooth - is it teething? He has also got cold like symptoms which could be teething or could be a cold! How do i get more food into him? I do know this is normal but just need advice as it is so wearing!

Awwww, poor love, they often get colds when they are teething

Sounds to me like he just isn't hungrycos of the cold/teething. Still offer him his meals but as son as he kicks off then stop the meal.

Don't force him to eat.

I don't know if you are struggling with him, but your sentence "how do I get more food into him" concerns me a bit - if he doesn't want it, that's fine. He's only 9mo. Let him have a play with it, give him his usual milk feeds and relax a bit.

He's also getting older and will be beginning to realise he has a choice in whether he eats or not. Take all the stress off both of you by letting him feed himself more.

He could well be teething too. Imagine how you'd feel if you had a sore mouth and someone stuck you in a chair you couldn't get out of and kept putting a spoon towards your mouth - would make me squeak, I think!

Totally agree with Hunker. He is clearly trying to tell you something, I would just go with it for now and wait for it to pass. just keep offering and not make it a big deal.

I haven't been forcing him to eat and have been just letting him play when he kicks off. I must admit though i do find it difficult to not worry when he refuses all food and milk during the day. Thanks all for the help.
