Could 4 month be teething? And lack of daytime routine.....

I'm confused about my dd2 - she's almost 4mo (on Friday) and has suddenly stopped napping well in the day. She used to sleep 4-5 hours consistently (over about 3/4 naps) but now is only having 30-45mins in the morning and only about 30mins at lunchtime before waking up. She then naps later on but at what time and where is anyone's guess! This is making feeding difficult and I feel like what was once a bit of a routine is suddenly all over the place and she's just feeding on demand (I'm breastfeeding). She is chewing at her hand all the time (which I used to take as a cue for hunger) and dribbling and has been really grumpy for the last couple of days which I think is overtiredness but could possible pain of teething be stopping her from napping well? I've tried doing a combination of Gina Ford and Baby Whisperer routines but have pretty much given up now as she seems to have her own ideas! She's sleeping through at night (about 7pm - 7/8am) with a feed at 11pm (ish) which obviously is fantastic, and her nighttime sleep hasn't been affected so far. Any ideas? This lack of daytime routine is driving me a bit crazy! I gave her calpol once yesterday but not sure if that helped.

Could be teething - my DS started with symptoms at around 13 weeks and had his first two teetch at 22 weeks. Ashton & Parson's teething powders have been good for us, as well as Calpol.

For teetch, read teeth of course!

More likely the 4 month growth & developmental spurt/ sleep regression. Something you just have to roll with - if she's still sleeping at night then she's doing well - both my DSs were waking every 40 minutes at this point. All night.

Hi North - thanks for reminding me about the Ashton & Parson's teething powders, I'd forgotten about those, I used them with DD1 I seem to remember. ZuleikaD - yes I've heard about this 4 month sleep regression thing, which I never heard about when I was going through the baby years with DD1. I think she was a textbook baby whilst DD2 is proving to be a lot more challenging! Sorry to hear about your DSs waking so much in the night, that must have been so tough. Fingers crossed she's sleeping well at night but I'm a bit worried about tonight as she's never slept as little as she has done today and she was hysterical this evening when I put her to bed (eventually). It's been a very long hard day and I'm feeling totally drained and exhausted (and teary)....

I really wish I could get some kind of routine going with her because our days are so unpredictable and it's really difficult to plan anything.

I thought we were starting to turn a corner after 3 months but things just seem to have gone all wrong again!
