My children aren't babies anymore, but this article really grabbed my attention. I am a conventional sort of person and had every intention of mothering my babies in the traditional way. Then I had my first daughter, and she cried all the time. Our lives were turned upside down, so my husband and I were happy to keep her with us all the time to stop the crying. I read this and I wish we had given in sooner and done more.

I've met lots of mum and baby pairs where everyone is content with the traditional conventions of cot, pram etc. so obviously it's not all wrong, but if you have a baby demanding more, you don't need to feel guilty for "giving in."

What a load if old tosh! This is from 1998 and it isn't even research. I really hate this sort of scaremongering shit!

please read the article linked below which was written in response to AP parents wheeling out hearsay and untested hypothesis

Ah very interesting! I still think I had to bend with my first dd...for her what I planned wasn't working and it's nice to have someone say what I did with her was OK not flaky.

However, I do agree that the standard practices create a lot of obviously happy babies.

My mum done the AP thing with my sister and I 27 years ago (when it was called wrapping your kid in cotton wool) and my sisters turned into a terrible person she drinks, doesn't care for her child, can't handle pressure of any kind, screams shouts throws things if she doesn't get her own way and is on a huge amount of pills for anxiety.

So there is your 'proof' that AP isn't always the best way though it does work sometimes because I turned out fine.
