She's four and falls most days. She's such a hardy little thing because of this she'll usually just get up and dust herself down.

I'm pregnant, hormonal etc and I get cross because it happens so often. Usually in muddy puddles or just as we're rushing somewhere ripping and ruining outfits etc.

Sometimes it's pure accident other times running silly or not looking.

I look like a heartless mum because I get irritated. She had another fall on way to school yesterday, grazed her chin. I did pick her up, was concerned but also got cross because had to take her home and another mum had to walj my other child to school.

She said sorry. Then I felt such a bitch because it was an accident Sad. How can I be more patient about this?

I completely understand, I was exactly like this with Dd. Every single day without fail she would fall over at least once on our 250 metre walk to school.

Every pair of tights and leggings she owned had holes in the knees and her default setting seemed to be face first, so she had broken teeth from her many trips and stumbles.

There's only so many times you can be sympathetic before you get exasperated and end up thinking "how is it so difficult to put one f...ing foot in front of the other?!"

I feel awful about it now, but at the time I got so annoyed at her, DS would be moaning about her making him late for school, she'd be crying with holey knees, not the perfect start to any day.

Have you had her eyes checked? Kids who often fall over or knock into things sometimes just can't see very well.

Yes it is irritating. Just don't want her to think I don't care. She's out with my MIL at moment so think i'm missing her and feeling bad about this morning

neolara she recently had an eye check and it was fine. But I do wonder why she trips so much.

If it helps, it was about 4 or 5 when my DD finally found her feet and stopped falling all the time. FWIW she has very long feet, so I wonder if that contributed.

She's now 7 and very rarely takes a tumble. Just give her a big hug when she gets home and next time it happens try to be more relaxed, now that you're aware of how cross you get you can preempt it a bit.

Yes gave her a hug, said sorry. Pregnancy grumpiness doesn't help!

Will just utter the mantra 'this too shall pass'
