How to get 3month old to drink more milk?

I am slowly going mad trying to get dd to drink more milk! She is tiny only on the 9thcentile and on average drinks 3-4oz every 3 hours! How can I get her to take more milk so she can gain a little more weight! I'm getting upset with all the 'oo isn't she tiny' comments Hmm! The more I get frustrated with trying to feeds her the more upset she becomes and then takes less milk! I feel like I'm going round in circles! Help!!

i think you need to let her take how much she wants.

some babies are going to be on the 9th centile, and that's fine! someone has to be there. there are babies who are always going to be smaller, and many who will be bigger... all normal.

your little girl knows when she is hungry, and she will (if letft to it) take as much as she needs... as long as she isn't dropping centiles or losing weight then there really is no need to try and make her take more.

Agree with bunda - she's just a small baby, thats just how she is, babies take what they need.

I just worry as isn't getting enough milkConfused when I try leaving her longer between feeds she still doesn't seem hungry! Perhaps she is just not fussed

As long as she has wet and dirty nappies and is gaining weight then she us fine.

Some babies just don't take as much, my daughter never too more than 5oz and at three mthgs was having similar amount to your dd.

She never got more than 24ozin 24hrs even at almost 6mths before she was weaned. It was a shock after my boys who had all fed lots!

But she was and is fine.

Do you have any other reason to be concerned?

You need to ignore the people commenting on her weight! She will be following her own path, drinking what she needs and growing at her own rate. You're doing fine if you take her lead Smile

As long as she isn't a really losing weight then she'll take as much as she needs.

I wouldn't leave it longer between feeds though in the hope that she'll be hungrier. If anything, I think little and often would be better.

No other real reasons of concern. She is putting on weight slowly but is otherwise smiley and happy just struggles with wind! I'm a natural worrier which definitely doesn't help??
