8-week vaccinations tomorrow. Worried and anxious.

My 8-week-old DS1 has an appointment for his first set of jabs tomorrow. I suffer from anxiety at the best of times and I'm really anxious about it.

Firstly, I don't want to see him in pain or discomfort from the actual jabs going in. Though I can get past this.

Secondly, and most stressful for me, I'm scared my perfect little boy is going to be "damaged" from the vaccines. I know it's incredibly rare but can happen and I'm terrified. Even the government has a page about vaccine damage compensation. The thought of anything happening from choosing to vaccinate is making me feel physically ill. DH is not worried and wants DS to have them so I'm trying to follow his lead but inside I'm terrified.

I think I've been Googling too much and have scared myself stupid :(

Well he had the jabs. He screamed, I cried my eyes out. DH was there but somehow I ended up holding DS. It's a bit of a blur.

We talked about rotavirus and nurse said it would be fine to think it over some more and get his first dose at 12 weeks along with the rest if the 12 week vacs.

I feel drained! And now I'm on high alert for side effects. Fingers crossed

After her 8 week jabs, DD screamed inconsolably most of the afternoon. About 4.30pm she fell asleep - for 5 hours, the longest she has ever slept.

We couldn't rouse her, I was worried about dehydration and about to call NHS24 when she finally woke up. Just in case your DS does the same, don't panic!

Well done OP. You've done a great thing for your son today, despite your fears.

As pp says, don't be surprised if you get a good sleep tonight!

Well done! And fingers crossed that you get a good sleeper for the next 24 hours like most of my mother's group (though not everyone - we had fingers crossed for some rest but got no such luck!)

Well he hasn't cried this afternoon except for his usual "I'm hungry" cry at his usual feeding time. I whipped the plasters off his legs and he didnt flinch.

I've taken his temperature too and that's fine. He's dozing in his bouncy chair atm.

I really am going to have to toughen up with these things!

Glad it went ok op.

It's not nice to see them upset but better a few minutes than a few weeks/months or worse of severe illness.
