Is that because their stomachs develop to keep food down better? or because weaning helps? wondering how much earlier weaning might help. ..

Ours peaked at 4 months without weaning - after 4 months they mechanically mature, plus you can push to feed less often (especially at night) which allows them more time without acid up the oesophagus.

It did in DS2, but only because 4 months was how long it took us to realise the medics were talking crap and it was cows milk intolerance that was the problem.
I can't recommend the book "colic solved" enough, despite stupid title. It's by gastro-paed Dr B Vartebedian and is all about reflux and CMPI.

Ordered the book thanks baking! did you switch to a lactose free milk? I've looked into intolerance because it's in my family but he doesn't really have many more symptoms? is your LO still intolerant now?

Was breastfeeding so went dairy free myself. It would be a milk free of cows milk protein, not lactose (milk sugar), that you need. GP can prescribe either hydrolysed or amino acid based formula though it can be a bit of a fight to get it. Any lactose intolerance is secondary to the gut being inflammed.
LO is now 3 and he's fine, on a normal diet. He outgrew it gradually between about 18 and 30 months.
Little Refluxers support site also a godsend!

We've been referred to a paediatrician as our GP is useless and it can take a few months to get an appt depending on severity. .as DS is gaining weight I don't think they'll deem him urgent so I'm doing whatever I can myself as he is most definitely not a happy chucker and Gaviscon doesn't seem to be working as it once did Sad

Weaning from 18 weeks really helped my dd. She puked after every feed and her weight gain was awful. As soon as she started solids her weight improved dramatically and there was much less vomiting. She never got distressed by the vomiting, it was only her weight that was the issue.
