How normal is exhausted?

I have 4 dcs aged 8, 6, 4 and 1. I currently a sahm.

In the week I feel okay. Am still bfing so expect to feel less than exuberant!

At the weekends I am utterly shattered. I mean it's a struggle to get up off the sofa.

I have a helpful dh, take iron, am okay in terms of fitness (karate 2 x per week and never sit down until 9pm).

I thought I'd like one more child but I don't know if I actually have the strength. I've never felt quite this weary before apart from early pgy.

Is it normal?

4 Shock, I'm utterly exhausted and struggle to get up off the sofa and I only have 1.

If you're worried, go to your gp and ask for a full blood count and also check your thyroid levels? Perhaps ask for dietary advice, perhaps eat less sugar, fewer carbs and more protein?
It could just be as simple as knowing your dh is there to help/support, you can relax and then your body realises just how tired you are.

If it helps - I'm not sure it's normal that you feel OK during the week Grin God, I'd be knackered 24-7 if I had four DC.

I'm inclined to agree with mumofboyo - during the week you cope because you have to, but at weekends you relax and that's when it hits you. Also, I'm guessing things are a bit easier because the older DC are at school.

Presumably only one is at home in the week as the older 3 are in school so you get all those hours off just with the youngest and you don't go out to work - hence the weeks are easier and weekends harder. Why not at weekends have a day each - on one day your husband has all 4 all day except when you breastfeed and he minds them and does housework and on the next day you do so he gets time off?
