Have you any bad experiences with prams?

Hi,

I'm a 2nd year student looking to design a new pram, that will hopefully solve the problems I imagine all you parents/carers may unfortunately have dealt with. Although, I don't have first hand experience or any for that matter so I would appreciate it if you could share any problems you have encountered. Has there been any great features from your present or past pram(s) that you feel are vital to pursue?

Thanks!

I'd love a pram that I could push myself (I am a manual wheelchair user), one that I could attach to my wheelchair, and use to transport my baby safely.

I am pregnant at the moment, and there seems to be a real gap in the market....

As it is, I have been traipsing round B&Q trying to find some bits and pieces to use to attach a conventional pram to my chair. B&Q don't have anything, so dh and I going to try a local bike repair shop for inspiration! We have also enlisted the help of Remap. So, we shall see.

Sorry for the ramble...Basically invent a pram compatible with a wheelchair, and I'd be happy Grin

Nothing too wide to fit down the aisle of an older style bus. Having to take off a wheel on a moving bus is not something I ever want to do again.

BJCM is probably the best pushchair out there but parent facing would be a plus.

I think it really depends whether you're aiming it at the people who want a pram from birth or those who after 6 months discover their pram is just too huge and unwieldy and go out and buy a Maclaren or similar.

So to keep the former happy you need to have the possibility of putting a carrycot on and the latter want small, manouverable, light, quick to fold and big enough for a preschooler.

The BJ city select is great but it doesn't have a one piece fold.

I'd also like a range of accessories - like off-road wheels that you can clip on and off - that you can upgrade a basic model with.

I have the Seed Pli pram, which is fairly unusual, but great as it was the only pram I could find that would fit in my tiny car. All the other prams I tested didn't fold down enough.

It has loads of other brilliant features, but is fairly heavy (was an issue lifting it in and out the car after a c-section).

Also, the Seed Pli can be converted from a pram to a stroller, can be parent facing or forward facing, has a car seat adapter ++

Another Uppababy Vista user here - it's pretty damn near perfect, especially the large basket size and the sunshade that actually protects your baby from the sun! I second the suggestion that you visit the Uppababy site to check out their specs sheets.

Have completed your questionnaire but will say I love my uppababy vista - almost perfect but rear wheels are quite broad which can be awkward in smaller shops, and it's quite heavy to lift into car.
Would also love to be able to clip it to a shopping trolley - that would be sooo helpful!

My baby didn't like lying down flat in his pram Confused

Sorry, probably not one that you will be able to solve Grin
