Where can I buy fun pants for my 2 year old

I am about to embark on toilet training my ds who is nearly 2.75. I want to take him shopping so he can choose some pants he will like. I would welcome ideas on the best place to go to give him a choice of pants he might like. So far it seems like M&S do the best choice.

PS. He's rather small so we'll need size 18months-2 years which not all stores seem to do.

I think any pants as the first pants are exciting, for my ds I got a range of different colours, which helped him learn his colours at the same time

Tesco, Mothercare , Woolworths, Adams

The cheaper places also do a good range of pants, like Matalan etc.

Both of mine have really enjoyed the "buying the first pairs of pants" ritual. DD loved hers so much that she went through a phase of wearing them over her nappy and pyjama bottoms before flying solo.

Ds had some Bob the Builder pants which he just adored. When DD was potty trained she was desparate to have some "Bobba knocker pants" as well, but we couldn't find any, let alone any girls ones, so my lovely Mum painstakingly made up a coloured Bob transfer and applied it to a number of pairs of plain white ones. (She used to be a primary teacher so knows how to do things like that).

There is a fantastic book called "Pants!" which works really well at that phase. By Nick Sharratt or Giles Andreae or something. I highly recommend it as part of the embracing the wonderful world of pants!

One tip - buy loads more than you need. There are occasions (quite a lot of them, actually) when you just want to bin them and move on. the ones in Tesco are so cheap as to be pretty much disposable - something like 7 for £1!

Am sure asda did 18-24mth pants.

Hi,

I have the book PANTS and would recommend it too.

I would suggest going for age 2-3 even if he is small. My DD is tiny and the 18-24s I bought fit well but are hard for her to pull up/down. The 2-3s wont fall down but will make it easier for him to be independent.

Woolworths, ASDA, TESCO were very good. I also happened to go into a Disney store the other day and they had characterpants on offer.

BHS have Bob & Thomas pants 3 for £5. Woolworths have 5 pairs of Thomas for £5. ASDA have 3 pairs of Postman Pat for £5

bobsmum · 30/06/2006 19:18

Mothercare have pants from 18mths up including Postman Pat, Thomas and the new Disney Cars film.

hulababy · 30/06/2006 19:21

Mothercare, BHS and Woolworths all do character pants in little sizes. Think Asda do too.

One think though - are you sure you definitely only need the smaller size? Best tip I was given when PTing with DD was to buy pants a little bigger and baggier than you normally would need - they are then much easier to pull up and down for your little one.

bobsmum · 30/06/2006 19:22

Agree with hulababy - ds is 3 so we've been buying age 4-5 for speedy pulling up and down now he's going by himself.
