I've not read it for years, but I read ds Guess how much I love you tonight, and teared up at the end of it! I've also made sure I have bought The Tiger that came to tea, The gruffalo, and am on the look out for The very hungry caterpillar.
Any others that people can suggest, please?

Peepo, Each Peach Pear Plum, Hairy Maclary, Where's Spot? and Dear Zoo are all ones I enjoy reading to my one year old. Have got some Alfie and Annie Rose and will be getting some other Shirley Hughes to read starting sometime soon I expect.

Peepo. Babies can pick out images from very complicated pictures and there's loads and loads for them to look at.

Good night moon, they love looking for the mouse, it seems to really calm them down for bed. We still read it now if bedtime has been fraught and the oldest ones6.

Ha ha, I was going to say Guess how much...and Good night moon.

Hungry Caterpillar and most of Eric Carle's others I think I started when dd was about that age too.

There is a series about a duck called Daisy who wonders around with her little brother at nighttime and then scuttles back to their mum. They are nice, often you can get pop up and touchy feely ones.

Little Bear's Lost Trousers by Jane Hissey and a couple of other of hers. I had the cardboard editions and knew them word for word. I still have them as I can't bear to throw them out.

Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers is a modern classic

All Join In by Quentin Blake is fabulous - still read this to my 6yo and the 9yo creeps in to listen every time!

YY to Each Peach Pear Plum, Hungry Caterpillar etc etc as well

"Oh no George" and "A bit lost" by Chris Haughton - very entertaining and I think they withstand being read over and over again without losing their charm to parents!

Thank you all, will check these outGrin

'Dear Zoo' Rod Campbell (I think) - lovely illustrations and flaps to lift DD loved it at 1yr and still does now (nearly 4!)
