I'm gutted. What happened?

Last month I potty trained dd. She did brilliantly. She was dry within a week and she has been dry ever since apart from a couple of leaks befroe getting to the loo.
Yesterday I picked her up from nursery and she was in change of clothes following an accident, I was slightly surprised as she has been at home with us since last Thursday and we had had no accidents. I was told that she couldn't get her shorts down in time. I always help her pull down her pants and shorts
Today dh picked her up and she had had FIVE accidents, the nursery staff said they didn't know what had happened. She had just stopped asking them to go to the loo.
I'm really gutted and can't help feeling it's because she has lost faith in the nursery staff. I feel so badly about it I am going to go in and see them tomorrow.
I can't decide how I should approach it without seeming too pushy.

I hope things improve for you. I don't have many suggestions. Just wanted to sympathise and say good luck. I always find that the best way to approach people is to ask them nicely for their help in overcoming the problem and ask them what they think could be going wrong/if anything has happened that could explain the change. May be it's not so bad. May be she gets so excited at nursery because there's so much to do that she forgets to go?

I sit possible that she has a urine infection? Or is a bit more tired than usual? Or is feeling a bit anxious? Or has got complacent? It honestly isn't unusual to regress a bit - ds (who is 5) had a HUGE weeing accident the other day, as he just wanted to watch the telly and couldn't be bothered to go. And his cousin went through a phase after starting school of just not going in time ('I'm a big girl, I don't need telling, I don't need to go - oh dear'). It may not be anything to do with the nursery staff at all. YOu could ask them if they have any strategies for dealing with it, and most importantly, don't let your dd notice you're anxious.

I'm sure she'll be fine again soon. How old is she btw?

She's 2 and 2 months. Only yesterday they said she was the best potty trained child they had.

even the ones who take to it have off days! or agree could be an infection

I think it's a lot to ask such a young child. I never bothered until my girls were nearly 3

DD did this. She was potty trained just before her 2nd birthday, long before I'd thought I'd be doing it, but she'd shown all the signs. She had been completey dry during the day for 5 weeks when we went camping. She was dry for the whole of the camping trip too until the last morning and on that morning she was in her 4th set of clothes by 10am.

I put it down to tiredness, she also had a cold, but also I felt she was learning about pushing boundaries and it was as if she was seeing what would happen if she didn't tell me she needed a wee wee. My HV reassured me it was completely normal to have a regression. We went back to loads of praise and stickers when she went on her potty and soon got back on track, but even now, a year later she still has accidents when she's playing and doesn't want to stop to have a wee!

My friend also had similar with her dd and she had a urine infection, so it would be worth getting that checked out.

Thank you for the reassurance Surfermum. I shall look out for urine infection too

Been wondering if you got back on track, Mrs. Doolittle?
