I can't get anything done properly. dp takes over when he's home but lo prefares me. at night he gets put in co-sleeper but wakes and lies on me he still wakes every 3 hrs for feed(bottle fed) any advice or similar stories would be truely appreciated x

You are doing enough by holding him and letting him feel safe, warm and comforted by sleeping on you.

There is nothing else to be done that is more important than this!!
(Housework will wait).

If you give him this secure attachment at the beginning of his life, he will grow to be a happy, independent, secure child who knows his mum is always there for him.

Before you know it, he'll be ready to explore the world himself and you'll have to catch him for a cuddle.

Congratulations on your new baby Smile

Can you use a sling do you can get things done while baby sleeps? It does sound completely normal.

He'll go in his Moses basket for up to half an hour? I don't think that's bad going to be honest.

YY to a sling - that will help you get stuff done during the day.

How do you get on with the pram? Does he sleep if you go for a walk?

Sorry if this sounds patronising, but be careful at night. It sounds as if you're accidentally falling asleep together, which isn't recommended under SIDS guidance.

He's still so tiny. This will pass soon enough.

hi he does sleep in pram when out but still looks for cuddles.when he sleeps on me I'm awake so sleep deprivation is getting to me. the sling idea is one I'll try thanks for the reassurance this is normal was starting to think he was just being a bit to attached. x

Definitely normal. 30 mins in the moses basket is pretty good going - mine wouldn't lie down on her own at all and lived in the Moby carrier (sling). I used to just do all the housework carrying her hands free.

Do you have a bouncer you could move around the house? If he'll lie for 30 mins you have time to do quite a lot - you can put the bouncer in the bathroom to have a shower, and move him from room to room while you do chores so he's still aware you're there.

Three hour wake ups also normal at nine weeks (again, pretty good, mine didn't go that long between night feeds at that age).

I'm assuming by co-sleeper you mean a bedside cot type thing? When he wakes can you feed him, then settle him back in his bedside cot keeping your hand on him while you're lying down next to him? He'll still have the warmth and know you are there but you should be able to drop off yourself without worrying about the risk of suffocation.

Hang in there though. This phase will pass before you know it and you will all be getting more sleep!

Not everyone's cup of tea but do you want to co sleep? I coslept with DS who was like your LO by the sounds of things til he was 6 months. I hindsight I should have been trying to get him in the cot earlier but cosleeping saved us in the early days. If you follow the guidelines and do it safely it is fine. I would feed him lying down then wait til he dozed off and rolled myself away and slept next to him, covers on me only. He would sleep in the cot sometimes but would thrash and groan and generally sound like a freight train, whereas in bed with me he was very peaceful.

If its not something you want to do that's totally fine. But it saved me from passing out in the day from sleep dep. means though you don't get good quality v comfy sleep you do sleep, which was a deciding factor for us.

I'm in the same situation, although mine cries after maximum 10 mins! I got the beco soleil (it's between a sling and baby carrier and baby's knees are in frog position) and it's a big help. I got the hood and insert too and the hood makes it all dark inside. I also breast feed while she's in it and she sleeps better at night when she's been on the boob a lot of the day. I have a big cardi that I do up over it to hide the side boob. She likes to sleep with her head squished against the boob, or sandwiched between them! I had a sling, but couldn't get a cardi over my arms and was too hot with slung on top or too cold with arms not covered by a jumper. I can get everything done, albeit not super quickly, apart from pick up my two year old.
