My dtr moved into a bed and was fine first night but now sits up in bed chattering and singing and keeps turning the light on. She did sleep straight away near enough before from about 6.45pm. She was a good sleeper before!

When I go in and turn the light off she has become defiant saying No! I don't want tog go to sleep I'm not tired! So we've been just leaving her to chatter and she eventually falls asleep. Little monkey!

She has naps during the day most days but I'm considering stopping the naps to make her more tired at bedtime. Is this the best way to go about it?

It's been a week since we put her in a bed.

My DS does this he seems to have phases doing it. He chats to himself and sings, then drops off.

I've just left him to it, there seems no reason for it, even if he hasn't has a nap.

Just leave her to it. As long as she stays in bed I wouldn't worry.

Don't keep going in and engaging with her and she'll soon get the message that it's sleep time.

We have had very similar things when DD moved into her big bed. She made the most of her new freedom to play about for a week or two, then it was no longer novel. It still happens occasionally. With her, she'll continue to play up if you keep going in - a bit like playing to an audience. If we don't she'll settle down. It never seemed to be anything to do with daytime naps for her.
