Not producing enough milk whilst ill?

I've had fluey type symptoms for the last 2 days and I'm concerned I'm not producing enough milk. My dd is 7.5mo so i'd have thought my supply was pretty well established but she has been feeding every 1.5hrs in the day and every 3 hours at night. I feel constantly 'empty' whereas usually I feel a bit full before the next feed

Is this a growth spurt and so I should continue to feed or am I not producing enough and so should give her some FF ( we've done the odd bottle recently as I'm preparing to go back to work). Don't want to give her a bottle if she's just trying to increase my supply!

Flu can affect your supply if you've had a temperature or if it's making you dehydrated but you'll bounce right back afterwards. That's the more likely explanation than a growth spurt given the coincidence of the two. Drink and eat lots and keep any fever down with paracetamol. You could give an extra bottle at the same time so you're covering both possibilities. Giving an occasional bottle at this stage won't prevent her from increasing your supply if it is a growth spurt. It might just take a little longer but it'll get there and in the meantime you'll get a bit more of a break to recover - which will help if it is a flu-related problem.

She's prob fighting off a small dose of what you have, comfort feeding etc. Keep going and keep up your fluids, rest etc... it's hard when you're sick, but the antibodies are worth giving her as much bm as possible.
