Is it time to stop the nap?

DD has not longed turned 3. Until recently she used to go to bed relatively easily at 7.30pm and would get up around 7.30am. On non nursery days she will take a nap of about a hour (I wake her after an hour) from 2-3pm. She doesn't nap on nursery days - too much going on.

However, for the past two weeks bedtimes are a battle (particularly on non nursery days). She is restless and wanting this and wanting that. I am losing my temper. It can be 8.30 - 9 before she actually settles (which would be fine if she would lie up there quite happily, but we keep getting shouted at or called in).

So, I am wondering, it is time to stop the naps? She really really is shattered come 2pm and goes to sleep happily. So, I am reluctant to drop them, but christ, these long drawn out bedtimes are a pain.

I have tried just keeping her up a bit later at night, but she still faffs about come bedtime.

Any advice?

You could always cut it a bit. DS 3.3 is still allowed up to 30 mins ending before 3pm. anything more or later and we have the sort of evening you're describing! He is never impressed with being woken though, just to warn you...

I thought I might try that. She can be very crabby after the hour, I must admit. She will only sleep in her bed at home and I don't mind coming home and getting her tucked up for an hour, but half an hour....I will try it though I think!

Both of mine stopped napping around 3. We swapped it for some "chill out time" which meant sitting on the sofa with a blanket and a bit of tv for some downtime.

I have to face the inevitable don't I? She is just such a grump at dinner time etc on the days she doesn't nap, not looking forward to that everyday!
