Which mum at the school gate are you?!

Just a silly thread... I've read on many threads that a good number of us feel like we are a far from perfect mum, and that all the other mums at the school gate seem so together and calm and serene and clearly not women who lose the plot from time to time and shout and nag at their children, then promptly collapse and pour a large glass of wine when they are finally asleep. Oh to be one of the calm mums! But statistically, some of us MNers are the mums at the gate - so maybe all those yummy mummies and cool and collected alpha mums are more 'human' and less intimidating than we might think?

So which mum at the gate are you? I suppose I am sometimes 'together' mum, in my skinny jeans and boots and make up, with delightful smiling baby in a buggy. However, I am also occasional 'haggard scruffy' mum, with bags under my eyes (thanks for the lack of sleep, dd2), no make-up, unwashed hair and a raincoat over scruffy jeans. I don't think I'm fooling anyone on those days. How do you come across? And what is the reality? Thanks for reading Smile

Meant to say, on the days that I am haggard stressed mum, I am also likely to end up hollering ds1's name across the school field while he attempts to climb a tree or runs about with his friends. While calm together mums look on...

I am the overbearing 'I miss my child so much when he's at school' mum and I get the piss ripped out of me all the time for it. If ever there's a mum dreading the end of summer holidays, that's me!

I am also always ALWAYS the last one in to school because DS2 always manages to fill his nappy every morning just was we're about to set off to take DS1....I am quite anti social though so this suits me fine as I have less time for people to talk to me and less chance of DS2 kicking off in the pushchair wanting to get out!

They all seem very chummy and cliquey there but that could be my own insecurities. I just tend to keep myself to myself and speak to the few mums I know as they were already my friends before having children.

I think with me it depends on what time of the month it is if you catch my drift Wink.I seem to have got more organised now as my 2 ds are that bit older ds1 is 8 and ds2 is 6,so I will get my clothes and the children's ready the night before, this saves a lot of stress in the mornings.Im def not one to mess about with makeup and hair though,,where do these yummy mummy's find the time is what I want to know, but tbh even if I had the time I wouldn't be arsing about with dolling myself up to take the kids to school I would much prefer to spend those extra minutes with my boys before sending them off to school for the day Smile.oh and pyjamasnotbananas there is nothing wrong with dreading the end of the summer hols!I'm exactly the same and find it quite sad when parents can't wait to get rid of their kids because I love having mine home-once again though depending on the time of the month Grin.
