Why do my kids behave for everyone else and play me up something terrible! Is it me - the kids - or is it normal? Help!

my kids are the same as that, hate to be the bearer of crap news but I think it's normal

I often wonder that too.

When I was looking after one of dts nursery friends I remarked to his mum how well behaved and polite he was. She looked at me as though I had sprouted another head, so I realised I am not alone.

I helped out at the nursery day out and our group was first at the soft play area. So there were 4 mums and the nursery teacher with all the kids tumbling about in the ball pit. Some of them (thank GOD not mine for once) started being a bit raucous and the teacher, a very soft spoken woman, said "Now children."

And every last one of them immediately shut up and paid attention.

Now there is a gift I would pay money for!!!!

What I meant to say what I often wonder that about my dts not your children!

Ds2 is asd and hyperactive - he has been to my Mother's house for the afternoon - he was a complete angel - used the toilet - ate at the table - did as he was told - little bugger - he will only eat under the table at home - tips his potty on the floor if it is not removed immediately after he has used it - obviously he isn;t the same child - they must grow horns as soon as they enter my front door.

Yes and when you walk into nursery to wait for your child and they sit there paying attention to the teacher and do not move from sitting until they are told they can do so - how do they manage this. DS will never ever sit somewhere I ask him to and stay there when I ask him to, he just does the opposite.

I have heard that the reason kids are like this is because they love and trust you the most so you are the person they feel they can be "experimental" with. I like that idea. I try to remember it when I've had a really awful day!

DS starts to cry as soon as I come home from work (I work two days a week). I think I just remind him how tired he is and I am the one who gets him ready for bed and he doesn't think about feeling so tired until he sees me.

Ponka -I will remind myself of that as often as I can. Thanks. xxx
