That's it really.
My dcs have wellies, school shoes and trainers.
Is this enough?
Should I buy winter/leather boots?

Dd1 has winter wellies (fleece lined), normal wellies, snow boots and her everyday shoes (Mary Jane style). We get quite cold winters up here.

I will probably end up getting her some leather boots to replace the Mary Janes but holding off as long as I can.

Dd 2 has wellies and trainers, will get her boots and snow boots once the weather gets properly cold.

Mine have school shoes, trainers and wellies.

Then dending on the season they also have either winter / snow boots or velcro-y sandals.

Last year they had the sainsburys winter boots, with elastic tie, and they weren't too bad. The previous year they had clarks at twice the price. They lasted from Nov - March. DD knackered hers in the end as she scuffed the heel up and they leaked in the last couple of weeks but 6yo DS might get a few more weeks out of his.

Nb; it was the sainsburys boots DD ruined. Clarks were fine, just eye wateringly expensive.

generally wellies, two pairs of trainers (one that lives in school), school shoes, slippers they leave for mum to fall over and ...

Sandals and flipflops/crocs in summer
and
being DDs, pretty, but practical boots of some sort in winter.

Parties generally their sandals, school shoes or trainers dependent on time of year and whether they'd been to a Wedding and had something else.

Now days they have ballet pumps and converse and primark slip on pumps (DD2(12) likes spending her pocket money on fun shoes and DD2(15) has high heel sling backs for properly smart, but their feet have oretty much stopped growing. I think DD2 may suddenly get taller and gain one more size, bur DD1 won't.

Ds1 has school shoes and trainers which double as football boots. And wellies. He did have plimsolls too, but has managed to lose these at school before even getting to wear them once Hmm If it's freezing this winter perhaps I'll buy him fleece-lined wellies, or I might just see how many pairs of socks we can fit into his ordinary ones! They grow out of them so fast, I refuse to buy more than the bare essentials of footwear.

NoComet · 21/09/2013 01:57

As for value for money, DD2 has some Primark mock uggs that cost £8 and some slip on elasticiated pumps which were about £3. Both have done incredibly well.

I thought the boots would die, especially as they are so warm she wouldn't wear socks, but they didn't.

Ok they aren't water proof and weren't worn in the worst weather, but she's walked miles on
Days out and shopping trips in
Them.

Toots, mine have wellies, trainers and school shoes too and I think its fine. I think by its nature you are going to get relies from those with lots of shoes which may not be representative of the general population!!

Of course you could buy shoes for every outfit or eventuality but you asked if it was enough. I think so!

Yorkieaddict · 21/09/2013 11:51

I think that is enough. They grow out of them so quickly that I am always reluctant to buy too many pairs. The only other thing DS has is a pair of sandals in the summer.

Tailtwister · 21/09/2013 12:15

My two have:

Wellies
School wellies (DS1 only)
Snow boots
Sandals
Shoes
School shoes (DS1 only)
School trainers (DS1 only)
School plimsoles

I do have the advantage of having children whose feet grow slowly though, so I'm only buying most of the above once a year. If I had to replace them every 6 weeks they would have less of a choice! Tbh I think that yes, what your DC have is enough. Snow boots are a nice to have, but wells are fine for most things.
