Recommendations for night-nappy for 2yr old who's weeing for Britain?

DS1 is recovering from a very nasty urinary tract infection and is now drinking - and weeing - for Britain overnight. And over his night nappy, pyjamas and mattress. He uses Pampers Active Fit size 4+. Any ideas? Would simply going up a size help?

He's over the worst of the UTI and I suspect things will be like this for a while.

I use dry nites and my ds wee's for england - no leaks.

oh poor old DS1

I find the Pampers Baby-Dry work very well over night - no leaks ever here. but going up a size might help, as they all seem to cover a vast array of weight and overlap each other (DD is in 4+ or 5 and she's only 18 months )

I find Pampers Baby-Dry more absorbent for night-time. Try going up to size 5. You could even try putting two on - maybe a size 5 and a 5+ over the top for extra protection??

lahdeedah · 23/06/2006 21:44

LOL MrsJohnCusack - your DD is tiny compared to mine, she is 15 months and just moving up to size 6 Baby-Dry!! I hope she doesn't grow any more before potty training!

Poor DS1
Don't know how open you are to the idea of washables, but the best thing I have found for my heavy-wetting ds at night is the happy hempy , stuffed with a folded terry square. Disposables always leaked, but I put this on him at 7pm and it lasts until morning, never had a leak with it yet. It's worth a try, you can stuff it more if you need extra absorbency, and you can just wash it with the rest of his things.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll try a sneaky change in the middle of the night first, and if it doesn't work I'll try Baby Dry. I'm not convinced about going up a size because DS1 has skinny legs and hips, so nappies are always falling off him, but will give that one a whirl next. Not sure about putting 2 nappies on at the same time, it's enough of a battle wrestling 1 on!

Aaronsmummy - who makes Dry Nites?

Tatties - I'll try that if the other tips don't work. DS1 was in pre-folds but came out of them in March when we rashly moved house and had a baby in the same week in and hasn't gone back. I think he would freak if I tried to put him in a cotton nappy now. Very cross with myself, I was looking forward to the potty training benefits. Although prefolds were never going to pass muster overnight. DS2 is sporting them now, but I've promised to treat him/myself to some fancy shaped ones. Did the Leeds meet up ever happen? My life got busier and busier and I stopped MNing for a while. And I was just thinking that I'd seen the back of LGI and now this...

I moved to pampers easy up pants when both active fit and baby dry started to leak. Have had only a couple of leaks since then and that is when they have been put on a little squinty.

Tatties · 24/06/2006 22:11

Spiker, I don't think the Leeds meet-up ever did happen! IIRC, you had quite a hard time too when DS2 was born? I really don't know how you managed to move within a week of giving birth, hats off to you! I am moving in a few weeks with a 1 year old and am finding it a nightmare

If you are planning some nappy purchases, treat yourself, sorry I mean DS2, to a Happy Hempy then, it really is a lovely nappy, my favourite

Best of British with the move Tatties! I only managed it with the help of my mum - most essential, seeing as I couldn't bend.

I found tescos nappies were much less leaky than any of the others. My ds is in size 5+ uring the day and 6 at night. H was always waking up soakng with any others. The 6's are massive - but I just pull them really tight round the waist
