Take her to toddler group and normally those peek a boo things they like. What about a musical gym.

SenoraPostrophe · 22/06/2006 15:17

your hand. your foot. wooden spoons. plastic tubs. anything really.

is she really bored though? does she just want to be sat up more, perhaps? ds was only happy in his baby walker at that age (and yes, I know you're not supposed to use them till 6 months, but needs must). they do also need a lot of attention at that age. toys won't entertain for long.

Too much attention now and you will be in hell for the rest of your years. There is stimulation but dont overstimulate as she will always expect it and your life will not be your own.

mine used to get bored at that age. we went out loads. every sort of baby group, walks, seeing friends, going to cafes. they do perk up a bit at 5-6 months when they can sit up and hold things (exciting things like a wooden spoon).

actually my 3rd never got bored, you need to hang around with a couple of toddlers. if you can bear it. your baby will love it.

Thanks - keep tips/advice coming pls!!! She basically wants to be carried round all day, esp in the garden pointing out flowers/trees etc. She hates pram/buggy/sling, so it is very tiring. She is willing to stay in cot watching mobile for up to 15 mins in morning which is great so
i can get dressed, tidy her changing stuff, do some laundry and get some breakfast. She can also stay for up to 10 mins in playpen watching fish and rolling from side to side and sticking some toys in her mouth. She no longer likes her Fisher Price kick and play and she almost toppled over with her brand new bumbo (she tried to stand whils throwing her back backwards), she loves meeting other babies but only for 10 mins, then wants me to walk round with her

have you tried her in a door bouncer. ds loves his

DumbledoresGirl · 22/06/2006 16:09

I recommend a bouncy chair so she is upright. Then just put her in whatever room you are in, and, as long as you aren't sitting down doing nothing (eg on computer!) I found my general activities kept mine interested longer. Failing that, put her in front of the washng machine when it is on! Oh and a baby gym.

SoupDragon · 22/06/2006 16:10

DD had a very pleasant 15 minutes today holding my hand and turning it over and over etc whilstI lay on the floor next to her

She likes chewing her banana, noisy cat, fingers, t shirt, carseat straps... pretty much anything.

Likes sitting in her borrowed bumbo.

Looks at me in disdain when I put her in her door bouncer as if to say "you expect me to do something?" but giggles when I bounce her in it.

conni · 22/06/2006 17:36

Thanks, I wasn't sure if she would be too young for a bouncer, anyway, she holds her head very well, so I am going to have a look on e-bay. Any recommendations for specific bouncer or are they all basically the same?

Sit her in a bumbo so she can watch you

tassis · 22/06/2006 17:40

alternate time in bouncy chair, bumbo seat, door bouncer, baby walker etc

ds got into baby mozart at not much older than this (I know shocking to use TV so young!)

we loved the lindam door bouncer

generally at this age ds would feed, then be very content for about an hour, then be slightly more demanding for about half an hour, then need to sleep again. I had no idea babies needed to sleep so regularly, could she be tired?

If your partner has an array of interesting coloured ties, attatch them to a hanger and suspend it over her head. She'll love to pull at them. You can see how desperate I got
