Would you leave a very sensible 14 year old in charge of her almost 6 year old sibling ?

DC2 needs clothes. DD3 is tired and trailing her round the shops for an hour would be unpleasant for all. DD1 (almost 15) has offered to babysit while I pop out with DD2. DD1 v sensible and very sweet with her little sister. Patience of a saint and calm head in a crisis. We would be 1 mile away and should be 30 mins but shopping with girls can take time. Max 1 hour.
Would you leave DD1 to babysit DD3?

Yes, of course. I earned a fortune babysitting when I was 14.

Yes. Why wouldn't you?

MrsShrek3 · 14/09/2013 14:00

yes

Ragwort · 14/09/2013 14:00

Absolutely, I would think it a little odd if you couldn't leave a nearly 15 year old to look after a younger sibling.

JugglingChaotically · 14/09/2013 14:00

Tks.
I googled first and was spooked by case where someone got cautioned for leaving a 14 yo babysitting. DD1 v sensible though so was going to till then.

bigTillyMint · 14/09/2013 14:09

lola88 · 14/09/2013 17:31

I was babysitting at 14, maybe leave another number to ring incase of an emergency when I babysat I had the parents number and my mum to call but in 5 years of babysitting I never needed to call anyone.

LoonyLouLou78 · 14/09/2013 20:34

Yes definitely. I was 14 when my baby sister was born. My grandad (mum's dad) was very sick at the time. I did tonnes of tea time / early evening babysitting while mum was at the hospital. Always loved it and was (and still am) very close to my sister.

Thisisaeuphemism · 14/09/2013 20:36
