My lo is 8 months old and since he started crawling pulling himself up etc he has face planted fallen bk etc. Obviously i have made it as safe as possible but u can't make everything 100% and i also felt bad first time but as long as he settles pretty much straight away i no he's ok. It sounds like she was ok so please don't feel bad unfortunately the more active and capable they are the more bumps :'(

Wishfulmakeupping · 09/09/2013 17:59

Ironically I was reaching for an extra pillow to put under face as it happened. Just didn't know if it was something I need to take her dr about but she's fine laughing and smiling now

My lo had a right bump on the back of his head and luckily he was fine after 2 mins as it happens i was taking him to get weighed so asked health visitor same thing and her advice was more than likely of something was too happen ie be sick have a fit etc it normally happens straight away but just keep an eye on him just like you would for concussion etc. This was just my hv advice i am not a doctor you are her mummy and you know your daughter better than anyone else so obviously if you think she needs to see a doctor then take her but if you think her behavior etc is normal im sure she will be fine i get cushions too and somehow he will fall the opposite way im sure he's just intent on making me worry and have constant heart attacks sounds like you were doing every thing you could while enjoying some lovely time with her don't beat yourself up honest

Thanks think its just that I feel guilty more than anything why didn't I lie her down first- bad mummy :( she seems fine all forgetten about 2 minutes later but I keep thinking about it. Will be so careful in future now thought I was but not careful enough

Your not a bad mummy unfortunately it will only get worse as they get older but she will be fine and even with all the precautions i havea fire guard, cushions and a blow up padded ball pool that i put down so if he does tumble hes got something soft to land on and of course im always with him and yet he still manages to bump himself he thinks he can run before he can walk i think the guilt lasts longer as parents than the upset to our children she will be fine Thanks and Brew for you

Babies are really resistant to Knicks and bumps - they are fantastically hardy little things. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

DD is 6mo and started crawling about a fortnight ago. She spends most of her time flat on her face. Also falling backwards, out of her bouncy chair (that was impressive)...the list goes on. She hasn't come to very much any harm yet.
I'm really looking forward to when she can walk and climb and launch herself off the furniture. Not.

Dd2 is a few days of her 1st birthday, so far she has face planted the floor probably 100 times (late developer, not yet crawling) fallen from sitting up, managed to get out of her swing (still don't know how, 5 point harness and tight straps) and she can get out of a bumbo seat, with the tray on. She's never once cried for more than 2 mins and the only injury we've had was a bloody mouth as she bit her cheek by accident.

Your little one will be fine! You can't wrap them up in cotton wool. They fall and hurt themselves when learning most things, its part of the learning process.

I was once told by a peadiatric consultant that small children bounce and have a lot less injurys as the bones are more flexible and they don't tense up as they fall.
