How often do you bath your baby?

Just wondering what others do.

I have a six week old dd and bath her every couple of days or so but obviously would bath her more often is she was dirty.

At that age DD was lucky if she got bathed once a week. But as she got older (3mths or so) I started bathing her regularly along with her big brother AND (this is the important bit) dumping cups of water over her head and running the shower over her so she would get used to it. Or when they are older and can stand, putting them in the shower - very quick alternative.

Bath dd every night (at 2 weeks old) - have only missed one night and she's almost 18 months. Top and tail daily too.

oops, message meant to read have bathed her every night since day 2 but one when she was 2 weeks old. Top and tail every day

like others already said, we have bathed both every night from a couple of weeks, more to have the bedtime routine than anything else

Have bathed DS, now 2 every night since the first day he came out of hospital, and think we have only ever missed 3 nights, and that was due to illness. He did not like it much when he was little but thought it was important as part of the routine: bath then into jannies and milk before bed, exatly the same now as at 1 week!

have to say these days he is normally dirty enough for a daily bath too

or even jammies

QE we're the same, ds2 shouts if he doesn't go in the bath every night. If we're running late or can't be @rsed then we tell him the bath is broken

I always try and do them every night. I chuck all 3 in at the same time, need a bigger bath!!!

DD 6 months in process of being weaned, always a line of food under her double chin!
DS2 is 2.4 and a grub. Paint stains up his arms adn felt tip on his legs most days
DS1 is 9 and plays out after school, climbing trees and having sword fights so he comes home filthy every day.

If I put my boys to bed without a bath I'd have to change the sheets in the morning

We got into trouble from the HV for not bathing DD often enough (every other night)!
As part of her 'bedtime routine - whatever that means at 9 weeks old - she now baths every night, partly because she loves it so much it stops her from crying, but mostly because it gives me 'baby time' when I've been at work all day.

MrsFogi · 21/06/2006 20:51

Every day but not to clean dd, just to let her splash and know that it is bedtime (she is 5 mths old and we have been doing the same since she was about 8 wo)

DS1 has a bath every night - he LOVES it.

DS2 usually joins him (on my lap) - has done for the last month or so. But he wasn't bathed for the first five weeks of his life, and for the first three or four months, only had a handful of baths. He's only ever had water on his skin and a bit of Dentinox shampoo on his hair (he has a fair bit and we had some left over from when DS1 had cradle cap) - his skin is utterly beautiful. Peachy, like warm marble - I could kiss him and stroke him all day long!

sweetkitty · 21/06/2006 21:00

Both DDs 23 and 5 mo have a bath every second night.

rustybear · 23/06/2006 19:45

My ds developed a sudden screaming aversion to baths at about 8 months - no idea why. I just washed him sitting on my lap on a towel. He didn't have another until he was 2 and dd was born and he watched her being bathed and suddenly said - 'want a bath' He's now 18 & showers twice a day.
