Ideas for decorating DS's room - in a rented property ??

Hi all,

Just moved into a new rented property and DS finally has his own room - but it's pretty bare with just his cot and chest of drawers. DS is 11 mo.

Since the property is rented I'm not keep on putting up wallpaper as I'm afraid it'll peel off the paint later when I try to get it off before moving out...

so I need suggestions on what I can do with DS's room ...

TIA :)

Are you allowed to hang pictures ? nice curtains and lampshade ?
depending on the walls you can get 'stickers' that peel off without damaging the paint (not used them but looked at them for our last rented house but ll put it up for sale 3 months after we moved in)
we will be doing the same soon.Smile

Yes wall stickers are great. I have them for DS and as his interests change I update the stickers and bed covers and it feels like his room has been redecorated with very little effort. They don't damage the paint and can also be reused.

Animal posters, photos, art work, curtains, soft toys, rug.

My twins are due for an update to their room, but I bought a set of Hungry Caterpillar reusable wall stickers before they were born two years ago. They completely filled the wall space and peeled off really easily when we moved a year ago without any damage to the paintwork at all. We put them up again in the new house and they are still going strong.

My sister had a really strict landlord with a no pictures policy in her previous rental and swears by temporary picture hooks which also don't damage the walls.

The wall stickers are great. Amazon has a huge selection and they're not expensive. You could also add a decorative lampshade and/or curtains. Mobiles are useful too. Hanging tnem from the light fitting or getting one that fixes to the cot means you won't need to damage the ceiling.

We're hoping to move next year so have decorated DS's room with stickers, a lampshade and a mobile, all with a woodland animal theme. It looks lovely and not a nail in sight!

Wall stickers! for ds1's room, I used racing car wall stickers which also came with flag stickers and pit stop and finish signs, and designed a little course across one of his walls. He loved it! Now he is moving to a bigger bedroom and is older (4.9yo) I have got road and car stickers and will make a little road network with cars and fire engines on it. Search wall stickers on Amazon and you'll find loads to choose from, and not expensive.

Wall stickers. Jojomaman do some too, get quality brands and they won't mark. Rug - we've got some great ones from ikea. Kids' lampshade and light. It'll be lovely! Xx

Asda do big wall posters 2 for £7 I got them for DS because he got his own room when he was 1 and didn't want to put anything up he would want to change in a year or so when he's 2 and demanding Mike the Night or something.

Beamae Can you please ask your sister if she used temporary picture hooks of a particular brand?
