Best nappy cream for newborn?

Am horrified that my 2 week old DD has nappy rash around her anus. Can I use metanium like I would on my toddler or should I use something simpler like sudocreme?

I've always used metanium on rashes from when my dd was a newborn and metanium everyday (white one) as think sudacream isn't very good

I've used Neal's Yard barrier cream - seems expensive but it's a big pot and lasts ages and is really gentle. Sudocreme has never seemed to help.

Sudocrem never worked for us. I use meta uin when there's a rash and burts bees nappy cream to stop it coming back.
Watch the wipes too, ones that suited DS brought dd up in a rash.

Metanium definitely, worked so much better than Sudocreme for mine.

I like Weleda's Calendula nappy change cream. It always works for us and there's no harmful stuff in it.

Try olive oil.

It is soothing, acts as a barrier,it's cheap and natural.

When my DD had nappy rash as a new born olive oil cleared it up within two days and now we wouldn't use anything else.

Works wonders on cradle cap too.

I used Metanium for a couple of days (and lots of nappy-free time) when it was quite red but now just cotton wool and olive oil to clean with reusable nappies (they breath better) and we're fine :-)

Have the Weleda moisturiser and baby oil for after/in bath time occasionally too and love them.

Another vote for Weleda's calendula cream....

Cotton wool and water...then metanium!!!

Also make sure you leave her with some time without her nappy on - lie her on a couple of towel, to let the air get to it each day.

Had nappy rash nightmare when dd was a few weeks old. Solved in the end by lots and lots of nappy off time and a very fastidious cleaning regime involving only warm water, cotton wool pads, and wait for it a hairdryer on a very cool setting. I know that it sounds bonkers but the constant rubbing from cleaning just made it worse and meant I could get her bum really clean.

Cream wise metanium was used as well as datakort and fusidin from docs. Now use a mild barrier cream bebathum every change.

Woops meant to say hairdryer enabled me to get her bum really dry.

We're lucky - DS only seems to get a rash when he's had the runs but his consultant says to us 'Metanium to beat the rash, Bepanthan to keep it at bay and Sudocrem never'! Works for us.

Burt's Bees nappy cream and ONLY when she has a rash. It annoys the hell out of me to see people smothering the bums in creams each and every nappy change. Is utterly pointless and doesn't let the skin breathe.

my DD had nappy rash at 3 weeks - cool water & soft flannel instead of wipes, dry with hair dryer on cool so you sent running it dry, and then Burt's bees until it clears up

No wipes, no sitting in wet/dirty nappies and plenty of no-nappy time.

Sudocreme always worked on red bottoms for me but it was a rare occurrence anyway and I really believe it's because I didn't use wipes. Flannels, cotton wool, water only and then later Water Wipes (by Derma H2O - Amazon sell them and Ocado too I think).

Have you read what goes into Pampers/Huggies etc wipes? If you wouldn't rub them on your own face, don't let them near your baby's bottom.

Try this cream and apply at every nappy change - it's prevented nappy rash with our DD. Resort to sudocrem if your LO gets really sore.

Try using just water and cotton wool to clean ot these wipes (most natural ones I've found).
