If so, what happens? Is it similar to the 1 year review?

I had one - totally pointless.

Really just a tick box exercise and a way for them to train new HV's imo.

But... equally it was nice to hear that I haven't fucked DS up irreparably yet Wink

yes there is. HV does the usual height and weight, answers any questions and checks tots development. My hv played ball with DD and read a story with her.
It was fine and lasted about 20 mins.

Thunk it depends where you are. DD is nearly 8 and when she was nearl 2 I had a letter saying due to budget cuts they didn't do the 2 year check any more but they sent me a questionnaire I could fill in instead.

Thank you all, I'll call the hv and as if they still do them in my area.

In my area when DS was 2 they only did a 2 year check if there had a been anything flagged up at a previous check. DS got one as he'd been slow to gain weight as a baby.

It's basically a check list to see if there are any concerns. In my area they weigh, ask questions about how many words, what sounds they can make, vision, hearing, brushing teeth. It's a yawn if everything is fine, but I guess it would be useful for some people if there are any concerns to keep an eye on them or catch things early.

I had one with dd3 , she was about 2 years 3 months. I don't remember having one with her older sisters Blush

We went in and dd3 was already nattering away - so HV said "that's really all I needed to check". She did her weight, height, talked about potty training. Did I have any concerns etc. Dd3 built a tower out of some blocks, had a nosy at a couple of books and I went away with a load of leaflets re learning through play, speech development, dietary stuff. Oh and she checked if dd3 had a dentist.

DS had his this year - I had to fill out a 10ish page booklet in advance saying whether or not he could do certain things then the hv at the appointment changed whenever I'd put "not yet" to say that he could because she thought I was wrong. It's not compulsory to attend it, but if you have any concerns you might find it helpful.
