Thick Q about packed lunch boxes!

Ds1 starts Reception on Tuesday (deep breaths deep breaths, no need to hyperventilate - sorry... pep talking self) and I'm a little anxious about his lunches anyway, as he had feeding difficulties as a baby and has a very limited diet still. However, we've been working hard at trying sandwiches and fillings with the upshot that he will now eat ham and Dairylea sandwiches Grin (not together). I have one of those little plastic sandwich boxes that just fits a round of sarnies in it, and has a clip on lid. My thick question is, do I need to clingfilm the sandwiches too to stop them having the appearance and texture of cardboard by lunchtime, or will the box keep them fresh on its own?! Thank you for reading this banal post and for any replies in advance!

It should be fine to just put them in the box. Clingfilm might make them 'sweat' a bit too much. The main reason to wrap them is to keep the sandwich together, IMO, so if the box is one of those where the sandwich sits securely, that should be enough :-)

You will be SO proud of him as he walks into school on the first day!

Thanks! And yes I will - I'll be fighting back a tear or ten, I imagine.

I use one of those boxes for my own lunch and they are great. No cling film needed.

Awesome, thanks Smile Cling film might be tricky for 4yo ds1 anyway so much easier without. Thanks for answering!

Have you got a thermal bag and an iceblock to keep lunch cool?

I also place straight in lunch box by the way, the less packaging they have to deal with the quicker they can get eating.

I put them in a plastic bag (any left over bag we have from other food packaging will do). Keeps the lunchbox cleaner, too.

My 3 have small sandwich sized clip-lock boxes - no clingfilm required.
