DS2 has a very young, groovy male teacher. Want to get him something fun at the end of the year. Don't think the usual scented candles will cut it, somehow Smile. Any ideas, apart from wine, that is...

DH (teaches y1) has received some excellent gifts but I can't think what any of them are now! Um... The firm favourite has got to be those huge bottles of lager you can get for abut £3 or £4. He really likes silly socks or ties which he can then wear to work, chocolate of course, anything to do with football (if the teacher seems a footy kind of person). One year he got a set of mini-aftershaves which he really liked as, again, he could use them for school. Oh, and he is a big softie, so anything with a homemade touch is perfect - recently he's had cakes, one of those mugs the child decorates, home made cards and a calendar. HTH!

Thanks so much, kipper. Really inspired by those ideas and love the idea of the home made stuff - this teacher, in addition to grooviness, also massively softhearted (you need to be to teach Y2!) Any other ideas from other MNers welcome, of course.

www.thedoghouse.co.uk has different gift ideas and just bought a kids trivia quiz box off Amazon for my hubby for fathers day. Its small and would make a good present for teachers. I liked it and decided to use it myself (Y2 teacher, female).£10 was the cost I think so depends how much you like him!!!

I think teachers do such a wonderful fantastic job they should be equally wonderful and fantastic presents - suitable presents would include: a ferrari, holiday cottage in Jamaica, cases of fine wines, or possibly a mountain of chocolate ....!

How about some really nice home-made biscuits, presented in a box decorated by your ds to give it a personal touch?

TwoIfBySea · 21/06/2006 21:34

I feel really boring now. Today was dts last day at nursery they start Primary 1 in August, so as well as cards with a corny poem in them we also bought the nursery teachers a huge box of Cadbury Heroes. The idea being that to put up with my two for nearly 2 years now they are heroes!

Cheesy and boring!

wrigglejiggle - are you a teacher by any chance?
TIBS - don't worry, I was a teacher too until DS came along - nothing better than some chocolate to pig out on at morning break!

A tie with cartoon characters on it chosen by DS?

Do you fancy him Honeychild?

honeychild · 22/06/2006 11:04

Thanks for all those suggestions, everyone.
SleepyJess, where could you have got that idea???? - I could be arrested for having such thoughts, since I suspect I'm old enough to be his mother...
Would love to try the biscuits, workathomemummy, but sadly am desperately undomesticated (see papier mache thread), so that could backfire massively.
Will check out the website ideas. Thanks, y'all - once again MN saves the day.
