Hi
My 3 month old seems to be teething. I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to help soothe his sore gums. Im using teething gel and he will bite on our fingers. I have bought him some teething toys but he hasn't got as far as coordinating his hand and mouth. Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks x

I found teething powders quite effective.

And also the teething rings that you can put in the fridge so they're nice and cool although at 3 months you'll prob need to hold it for your baby for them to bite on.

Teething powders are generally homeopathic - there is no active ingredient in them and they are basically a sugar powder. Any relief they provide comes from the placebo effect, and from the physical act of rubbing on gums. (Ashton & Parsons powders are herbal not homeopathic, but still only contain a tiny amount of active ingredient).

Anbesol gel is meant to be one of the better teething gels - there is one type which I think you have to ask for in Boots which is particularly strong.

We found cold (fridge) flannels worked best at this age. The teething toys were too big & DD lacked the co-ordination to use them.

Anbesol did work better than bonjela for us. Baby nurofen rather than calpol. My sister used to freeze apple rings for her ds to bite on.

DS was a very early teether, and the only teething toy we found that he could fit in his mouth was Sophie the giraffe.

It's really light too, so easy for babies to hold themselves.

Anbesol liquid from boots. Found it recently when had the mother of all ulcers.

It is beautiful stuff which was almost as good as a numbing injection.

I think anbesol might be 6 months+ though, so worth checking.

Oh fab thanks I will check. We have been using dentinox but he is very ready and always touching his gums poor thing!
