asking a question for a friend here. she has just moved her 12 month old from formula to cows milk and he has 12oz a day on the advice of her sister. she just wants to check this is the recommended amount or if he needs more than this?

my DS at that age was having a bottle in the morning, a bottle in the afternoon, a bottle in the evening (so that's about 21ish ounces), as well as yoghurt and cheese

personally, i would try to increase it a bit unless the 12 month old is receiving loads of calcium from other sources

actually, when I say "bottle" I mean one of those sippy cups with a spout

oh, and the general rule of thumb is about a pint

hi when I moved my DD9now2.6) from bottle to cup and also to cows milk at 14mths she went down to about 8oz a day at best. As long as they get calcium from other sources its fine. You can't make them drink!!

12-20 ounces is considered ok from 12 months and is inclusive of milk with cereal, in foods and other dairy products. The minimum recommended is now around 350mls (which is around 12 ounces)
