My four year old has a throat inf. and has just started antibiotics (although the doctor originally thought she didn't need them.). She has been complaining of stomach pain and hasn't eaten for 2 days. I can't get her to eat or take soup. She's listless and weak. We are due to go on holiday tomorrow.
How do I get her to eat? And would it be unwise to go away? Parenting is hard and sometimes I feel like a complete novice. Feel so out of my depth when she's in pain and I can't help her.

Ice lollies . The water and sugar in them will perk her up. Don't give her ibruprofen as it irritates the stomach . Give her calpol . In my experience not icecream as I found other stuck painfully on my tonsils .

When did she start the antibios? Before she started with the tummy ache? The tummy ache could be a side effect of the antibios. Do you have time to make an emergency GP appointment in the morning before you go away? Or if you are going away in the UK you can see any GP as a temporary resident. Don't worry about the not eating as long as she is getting fluids down, but the tummy ache might be an issue if she gets very sore or vomits and the antibios might need to be changed (I'm a GP...) Is she still having fevers? It's a hard call and holidays are precious, I understand that - for me I probably wouldn't go if one of my dc's was still having fevers and particularly if abroad / long journey. Can you turn up a day or two late? But if you can make your GP in the morning then they can help you make the decision whether she is well enough to go or not.
