Grandaughter's sleeping habits

My DGD is 4 and still comes into her parents' bed sometime during the night. My DD is pregnant with No. 3 (due in November) and is trying to break her of the habit with no success. She has tried taking her back, bribery, etc. but to no avail. DGS is 20mths and sleeps like an angel!

Any suggestions?

She or DH (if she has one) is going to have to invest in a couple of sleepless nights to break this.
I did this as a CM, but thankfully during the day nap time. the first time give a firm but gentle, 'it's time to go to sleep in your own bed,' and lead back to bed. Followed by any subsequent times of no verbal, no eye contact, just a taking of the hand and led back to bed.

Any verbal is seen as attention and any attention (even negative) is better than none. Make sure she's not afraid of anything like the dark. It should be broken in a couple of days.

Her DH manages to sleep through it!! She has tried putting her back into her own bed, but DGD just starts sobbing and clinging to her. DD is determined to sort it out before No 3 arrives, but as you say, it's going to be some sleepless nights!

Wishing her luck. To be fair they should take in turns. I find a sharp kidney punch wakens my DP effectively (joke Grin)

I agree with fackinell. 4 is old enough to be told to go back to bed. We're currently going through this with 2.5 yo ds. It's 3-4 times a night at the moment , and then he wakes our 6mo dd up with his wailing! Infuriating but we are sticking with it.

I don't see as there's any other way.
