My 7 yr old has just started t to watch the odd progamme on CBBC, she still likes CBeebies she hates animation and loves anything to do with real life or with real people. Balalmory and Me Too are her favourite progs on CBeeebies and she has just got into Marrying mum and dad on CBBC which is a great programme. However tonight she watched an episode of Tracey Beaker (she has prob seen about 4 episodes before)and she got really upset about these children living in a childrens home without their mummy and daddy and one of the characters having to move out as he got to 18. She is still crying upstairs now as he is going to have to leave his brother. Have explained it isn't real but as has real people in she cant get the gist between real (ie strictly) and fiction. I have just re watched it on iplayer and think some of the themes are very adult for a childrens show but she is the only one on her year who still watches cbeebies but it was more my insistence that we try CBBC as I felt Balamory and Me Too etc were a bit too young for her. Does anybody else feel this way about Tracey Beaker?? Aso can anyone tell me any other shows that are on CBBC that have real people that are more suitable for a 7 yr old!!

I had to explain Tracey Beaker to my dc's (6yrs and 4yrs) and yes, I was a bit unsure about it at first but they're ok with it. It lets them know that other children grow up in less than ideal circumstances, without being too gritty.

We also like Deadly 60, Dick 'n' Dom Genius (so good) , Horrible Histories has grown on me, Aleshas Street Dance, Nightmares of Nature (I think?) and there was one at the weekend on mountain climbing that I happily watched too.

It's taken us about a year to really get into CBBC, cbeebies is much easier to get hooked on.
